I wouldn't mind an EVO VIII as a daily driver!

The EVO VI TME I had a drive of once and it was a great car - very different to the R34 but still a great car. I imagine the EVO VIII will be better and will make one of the best all round daily drivers/track cars out there bar none IMO.

Hmm. I wonder how many of the wise posters on this thread HAVE ACTUALLY driven an EVO 7 or 8!!!

Nothing wrong with posting an opinion on looks etc, but if you had driven one of these cars hard, back to back with a tough GTR you would see that for what they are, EVOs are fantastic cars.GTRs are better tourers - definately. Can make bigger power - & do look meaner I agree. But when you take an EVO up a twisty mountain road all that is forgotten - they are sick rally cars & will leave any GTR behind on the really tight stuff + they are 4 doors so can be quite practical for shopping etc!

I love 'em. Miss my VII heaps since I sold it in Oct.

The 'unofficial' price on the VIII + del/rego/stamp=$72K

Still better than the $85K odd that the VIs were & you get a much better car. I think the VIIs look tougher than the VIII, but that wont stop me getting one when the time is right. Closest thing to a gokart for the street that I have ever driven (& I did 10,000km in the VII) inc

a short stint on a dirt track **cough cough.

ME Me :bahaha:

I've driven the 6, 7, n the 8

I believe my opinion as previously posted is not too far off the reality of the Evos is it Munro? Hehehe

Must also mention that the 7/8 beats the skylines(4 doors included) and wrxes hands down in terms of rear passenger legroom.....not that it might matter much to petrolheads though hehehe :headspin:

how can u guys compare cars going around the tsu... whatever circuit ... have a look at the cars man ... its no longer an evo ... its a different car that looks like an evo ... kinda like v8 supercars and SS commie ...

I agree, your not really talking about a car that is indicative of what we are buying from the dealer. Thats not a bad thing, its good to know the performance ($$$) ceiling of the car, but i dont think you need to refer to modded EVO VIII lap times to do the car justice.

The car looks to be a weapon straight out of the showroom. I have only seen one article on the EVO VIII on BMI DVD, and according to them there have been plenty of changes between the VII & VIII, not just cosmetic.

..and the R34 GTRs i have seen have 4 pot Brembos, which look pretty damn similar to the 350Z brakes on neighbours 350Z.

And whoever thinks they saw a std R32 GTR doing 1:08s around Wakefield (even with a bit of boost & filters) was either mistaken or being lied to, there is no way a near std GTR will do those times around the full Wakefield circuit...perhaps someone had HKS2530s etc tucked away under the bonnet!

hmm, im sure he onl had 15psi and zorst. but maybe hes lieng , how much would a stock r32 gtr do around wakefield ?

Im no authority, but i have been quicker then a fair few R32 GTRs at Wakefield and im only running around in the 1:13s.

UAS track days see plenty of GTRs, the quicker ones sometimes having bigger turbos, ECUs, R-Spec rubber if not slicks, see lap time here

But you can get an idea of the times most the GTRs are running.

There was a time when i spent all day chasing a stock EVO IV and his friend in a mildly tweaked WRX with good rubber. That was a stock EVO IV with crappy pads that were fading after a few laps, and it was quicker then me and his friends WRX. Thats an EVO IV so i can barely begin to imagine how much better an EVO VIII will be.
