Hi Everyone,

The time has arrived where push comes to shove financially and unfortunately that means it's time to sell my pride and joy, my dream car, the GTR :)

1-GTR1.jpg

Year: 1989

Model: BNR32 GTR

Body: 2 Door Coupe

Colour: Pearl Wine Red

Engine: 2.6L Twin Turbo, Twin Cam Inline 6 Cylinder (RB26DETT)

Transmission: 4WD MT

Odometer: 28,000kms (engine specific)

Price: $34,000 Neg. with RWC

Contact Details: Please PM me for contact details

Comments: Below is the modification list along with some history on the car, photos follow afterwards ;) Also I have a host of other parts that are available for purchase with the car or separately. They can be found at the end of this post.

:: Engine ::

- Brand new R33 RB26DETT N1 Engine, only done around 28,000kms

- Brand new R34 N1 Twin Turbos, same mileage as new engine

- Greddy adjustable Cam Gears with clear cam gear cover (comes with original cover as well, see pic with extra parts)

- Sard 800cc Injectors

- HKS Drag Intercooler (600x300x100mm – LxWxD, tube & fin design), 3” Inlet / Outlet

- Custom 3” Intercooler Piping

- Custom 3.5” mandrel Exhaust System from turbos to 4.5” rear muffler - amazingly subdued off boost but sounds great on full boost, very angry and tough. System is quiet easy on the ears as well with zero drone.

- Oil cooler with air guide and remote oil filter for easy replacement

- Oil Catch Can

- Twin Apexi Pod Filters

- Apexi Power FC ECU (tuned by Ben @ Racepace on 20psi = 320awkw :D)

:: Drive Train / Brakes ::

- Standard two piece drive shaft, LSD and 4WD system all very tight and strong – never had any problems running current power for the last 3 years of ownership.

- Jim Berry ‘Full Monty’ single plate carbonetic clutch, 3600lbs pressure plate matched to an R31 Fly Wheel – beautiful clutch, never had it slip on me once with current power level and operates almost like a standard clutch in terms of pedal heaviness and driveability in traffic.

- VSpec 2 Brembo front callipers with Lockheed rotors and pads, standard rear callipers and rotors / pads – pulls up exceptionally well, feels like your eyeballs will pop out and its still got more in it before the ABS even kicks in!

- Teflon braided brake lines

:: Suspension / Bracing / Wheels ::

- Tein Coilovers, adjustable stiffness and dampening

- 11 structural bracing bars:

--- 2 Front & Rear Strut Braces

--- 1 Interior Cabin Brace (per image)

--- 4 Front & Rear Guard Braces (1 under each guard running lengthwise)

--- 1 Brace underneath near rear of engine / front of gearbox

--- 1 Mid trans tunnel Brace connecting either side of the tunnel

--- 2 Rear subframe Braces (1 each side)

- Volk Racing CE28N 17x9” Forged Monoblock lightweight Wheels (includes VR Duraluminium wheel nuts and VR valve caps) wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza RE-01 255/40R17 Tyres.

This combination of stiffness and grip makes for a very flat and stable cornering attitude with great response from the tyres under braking, cornering and acceleration.

:: Exterior / Interior ::

- Lightweight fibreglass bonnet

- Aerocatch Bonnet Pins (lockable)

- N1 Side Skirts & Vents in front bar

- Momo ‘Race’ Steering Wheel

- GTR carbon fibre Gear Knob

- Apexi EL2 Mechanical Boost Gauge

- Nismo 320kmph Speedometer

- Kenwood CD / MP3 head unit with what looks like standard speakers front & back (they do an alright job to provide some good music but this is not a DB comp. car - the music most of the time is the car itself :D)

- Fire extinguisher mounted to rear cabin brace

- Original Nissan GTR floor mats front & back with the original flare case in the front passengers foot well (flare removed)

- Original Nissan GTR front & rear seats in excellent, nearly as new condition - bolsters still all firm & solid, top of rear seats are not faded like nearly all other R32s are.

- All dash & trim in excellent condition with all accessories, gauges & lights fully functional - heater & aircon work as good as the day it rolled off the factory floor, only problem is there must be a dry solder inside the climate control unit that causes the display to turn off randomly, a light tap on the front brings it back. It doesn’t effect functionality of the climate control system itself or the manual button controls, it’s a common fault you’ll find in a lot of R32s, easily fixable if you have the time to pull it out and take to an autoelec.

:: History ::

The car was originally ‘gunmetal grey’ before the owner of it then in Japan did a ground up rebuild of the car in 2004. It was resprayed a metallic factory colour ‘wine red’ but with lots of pearl and the engine bay was sprayed a stark white, maybe to show off the engine or to show up leaks and issues a lot easier…either way you always get asked the question when popping the bonnet “did it use to be white?”. The only place you can still see the original colour is the rear strut towers.

This chap worked at Nissan in Japan and so had access to many new parts for the GTR and is why you’ll find a lot of the seals and small plastic parts are like new as well as a lot of engine bay components.

Basically from there he dropped in the new motor and turbos with most of the listed supporting mods, the only mods added in Australia were the injectors, adjustable cam gears and the boost gauge.

A bloke well known in the NDSOC (Nissan Datsun Sports Owner Club) association imported it for himself in 2005 and owned it for a little over a year, taking it to a few show n’ shines and concourse events, two of which I attended and actually saw and admired it, not thinking at the time I would ever own such an awesome machine let alone that one :rofl:. While in his possession he added the injectors and cam gears and had it tuned to about 270awkw @ 20psi.

I purchased it off of him in 2006 and had owned it for a little while before taking it down to Race Pace as it was getting some injector fuel blow by…turned out the wrong O-rings had been used on installation by the previous owner and the injectors needed to be spaced out from the fuel rail a bit. Some new O-rings and some brass washers with rubber inner linings were used to space the injectors by about 2mm and make them seat properly in the head and the issue was resolved. While I was there I had Ben put it on the dyno for a new tune where it was found the CAS was faulty so a new one was installed and after a couple of hours on the dyno, I drove out with 322awkw (still on 20psi) and that was a safe tune. We worked out it’s about 520HP at the flywheel which I’m happy with as it’s a bit under what an N1 engine is estimated to be cable of handling before needing internal upgrades and so have never pushed it any further. It seems a very streetable power level with the 4WD system and 255 rubber giving great grip and the R34 N1 turbos are very responsive, a combination that nails you to the seat.

In the time I have had it, I installed a boost gauge to keep an eye on things, the ’Full Monty’ clutch when the old OS twin plate let go and a clear cam gear cover. I had the clutch installed by Race Pace and also had a check up tune while there, 319.4awkw was the number she pulled and going on the day was a bit warmer than the last tune day it was still making great safe power.

I’ve taken it to a couple of shows myself, a highlight being the NDSOC Nationals in 2007 at Phillips Island where I took 2nd place with the GTR in the judged Concourse 1980 - 1989 Modified Class against some stiff competition.

It’s latest outing was for an annual Australian 300zx Club cruise this December along the GOR (Great Ocean Road) where it performed admirably and gave me great driving pleasure and satisfaction…a much cherished “last drive” before she’s gone :(.

:: General Info ::

- I have always kept it garaged and drive it at most once a week, most outings would see it get a wash (easiest way to keep something clean is not to let it get dirty ;)).

- Fastidiously maintained, never parked at shopping centres or with general cars as it has not one dent.

- Oil services have always been done every 5,000kms, quite often less and always with a new filter.

- I have a few separate parts such as a roll cage, harnesses, etc. that can be bought together with the car, pictures and pricing can be found after the pictures of the car at the end of this post.

Please find the pictures below, I have really focused on what may seem obscure detail in some shots but it is to show the quality and condition the car has been kept in.

Cheers!

Craig

Happy New Year Everyone! :)

Just letting you all know she's still up for sale, you won't see an R32 GTR of this condition up for sale every day so don't hesitate to contact me if your interested :(

Cheers!

Craig

Just want to mention that this car is definitely as well looked after as the post mentions. They are good photos but still don't do the car justice. Absolutely immaculate in the flesh inside and out and just as good on the road. It'll be a shame to see it go.

Mate that car is absolutly brilliant, looks as though it came straight outta the factory,

id be too scared to buy it in the case that it might get a stone chip from driving it home

good luck with the sale

Hi Everyone,

Circumstances have changed (for the better :D ) and so there isn't an urgent need as such to sell the GTR...BUT my direction and goals in life have changed so she is still up for sale but at the old original price of:

$34,000 ONO

Cheers,

Craig

    • I know this one’s the BB one. My tuner did make mention about the actuator. I am curious about the VCT as well
    • Might also needs a stronger actuator with the right preloading. With older 2019 built bush G3 units, BB upgrade or 21U housing down size makes a pretty decent gain in response as well.
    • Hey lads  so im finally putting together my rb30 forged bottom end and ran into an issue. I measured my main bearing clearance with arp main studs torqued to 60 ft-lbs using ACL H series STD size bearings and standard, un-ground crank shaft journals and got an oil clearance reading of about 1.3 thou measuring straight up and down and about 2.8 thou measuring at a 45 degree angle (just above and below the parting line). My machine shop said they measured the main tunnel and it was all within spec (they didnt say the actual measurement) and to go with a standard size bearing, which i have done and the clearance is too tight, I'm guessing because of the extra clamping force from the arp studs distorting the main tunnel. I was wanting to run about 2.5 thou main bearing clearance.  My questions are: 1. could i just use the HX extra 1 thou clearance ACL bearings? that would fix my straight up and down clearance making it about 2.3 thou, but then would the side to side clearance be too big at around 3.8 thou? 2. what actually is the recommended main bearing clearance for measuring near the parting line / side to side. i know its supposed to be bigger as the bearing has some eccentricity built into it but how much more clearance should there be compared to the straight up and down measurement? at the moment there is about 1.5thou difference, is that acceptable or should it be less? 3. If i took the engine block + girdle back to the machine shop and got them to line bore the main tunnel (like i told them to do the first time, but they said it didnt need it) what bearing size would i buy? the STD size bearing shells already slide in fairly easily with no real resistance, some even falling out if i tip the girdle up-side-down. If im taking material out of the main tunnel would i need a bearing with extra material on the back side to make up for it? this is probably confusing af to read so if something doesn't make sense let me know and ill try explaining in a different way. My machine shop doesn't come back from christmas break until mid January, hence why i'm asking these questions here. TIA for any help or info
    • I bought the model back in Japan in Feb. I realised I could never build it, looked around for people who could build it, turns out there's some very skilled people out there that will make copies of 1:1 cars or near enough. I'm not really a photo guy... but people were dragging me in a group chat for the choice of bumper as someone else saw the car before it was finished as they are also a customer of that shop. I took the photo in the above post because I was pretty confident that the lip would work wonders for it. Here's some more in-progress and almost-done pics. It gives a good enough idea as to what the rear looks like!   I have also booked in a track day at the end of January. Lets all hope that is nothing but pure fun and games. If it's not pure fun and games, well, I've already got half an engine spare in the cupboard
    • Well, do ya, punk? Seriously though, let's fu<king go! The colour and kit looks amazing on the car. Do you have any shots from the rear? I don't quite follow how the model came around. You bought the white kit and he modified it to match your car? Looks nuts either way!
