G'day Guys !

I bought a R33, picked it up from dealer Yesterday Morning. I'm quite new to skyline...had one previeously but not for long.

This afternoon I put the car in the garage for general clean up.

Then i hear weird noise coming thru, I put the gear in the netural and let go of the clutch.

it's a grinding noise coming thru, Sound like bearing worn out but It's not that loud but it bothers me at the same time.

I think there is bit of vibration coming thru the gear knob as well when i'm driving around.

Any idea of what is happening? , Please help !

If you think you know what the problem is, is this a serious problem?

very common. I picked up my car with 33,xxxkm on it and it now has 103,xxxkm on it. It has had a "noisy clutch" since day 1, and hasn't gotten any louder in that time.

Don't worry about it unless it gets a lot noisier.

Some vibration coming through gear knob is also normal. You are driving a sports car now not a hatchback with a pot full of porridge under the hood!! (in FWD cars there are long linkages for the gearstick to go forwards up to the gearbox in the engine bay, stops some of the vibration. in a RWD car the gearstick goes directly into the box). My gearstick also moves a bit when I come on and off the throttle or go over bumps - again it's normal my box is mint and I have checked all the mounts are done up tight.

Thank you for the reply guys. Hope you all are havin chillin sunday.

Yeah noise stops when i push the clutch in...

So i guess it's not a too serious problem?

also i realised there is fair bit of noise when i'm driving as well...

How do you check the level for the transmission oil?

Cheers !!

Gearbox bearings are noisy and therefore on their way out. You will most likely need to recondition the thing to get rid of the noise. Will only get worse/noisier from here on out.

It is 99% NOT a thrust bearing issue.

Well if my car's whatever can be worn out at 33k and still exactly the same amount of worn out at 103k then they can stay that way. The gearbox is still mint and I'm not pulling it apart for shits and giggles!
