Whenever im going high speeds in my 93 r32 GTS, i realised that the HICAS light comes on at the dashboard. Why is this? When i turn the car off and on again the light goes away...

can anybody tell me what that means and how to fix it?

thanks

steering wheel allignment is out . hicas thinks your driving round in a big circle

oh ok but it really wont affect anything mechanically in the car if you continue to drive it, right? Come to think about it, my wheel alignment is way off because im missing a rubber on my left front shock so it veers to the left.

thanks :P

Yeah mine did this last weekend after driving about 150km down the highway... it's never come on before. I've read the other threads about this and aftermarketing steering wheels, I'm not worried about it.

The O.P. has a 32 not a 33.

33's with an aftermarket steering wheel/boss can give problems after about 30 mins of straight highway driving due to poor workmanship in the boss.

32's don't get the HICAS signal from the boss, but down on the pinion shaft on the rack.

I'd try for a wheel alignment first, someone may have altered your steering wheel's central position instead of centralising the tie rod ends.

^ yeh, like i said, im missing the rubber on the front left shock which results in the car veering off to the left...so ill try to get that fixed and get a wheel alighment than we'll see if it still comes on.

PS: I got the stock steering wheel.

how interesting, mine does this at literally random times (I drive a 35km stretch of highway at least twice a week, and it only comes on say once every 2 months), or when I'm going on a long trip say to melbourne. I've never worried about it (and I do have a HICAS lockout), but then I do need a wheel alignment badly.

I dont believe this is true, after pulling off various r32 steering wheels, gts and gtr

the sensor is right there behing the wheel, some boss kits use a plastic plate with 2 slots behind the metal peice, some use a metal peice with 2 slots to go over the sensor to move it

hicas light come on when it detects a fault, code can be read from computer in the boot

if its in the same position for a long time AND you have the limiter removed since the same wire cut is also used for hicas, it throws an error

i dont know about the going in circles thing, does sound plausable
