Good to see you could make it, better late than never :(

Did you hear the Blue bird fire up at the end of the day? it was off tap.....awesome.

Oh and Bobby, let me know if you are selling that beautiful N1......i love it.

Stu, did you have ANY idea how much attention you got when you were putting your car on the trailer??? I was at the opposite end of the parking lot and all i could see was a sea of heads turn and just watch!

ps. glad she's doing well!

I think it was funnier when that noisey commodore was revving his engine, had 50 Plus people standing around it, then Stu fired the Dino-Line up and it was literally like watching a paniced crowd running from a terrorist bomber... But all they wanted to see was a real V8 in a real Skyline... :(

I and another member had a good chuckle... LOL

I had a laugh when I turned my car on and raised the bonnet to show some one what was making a f**ken annoying bad sound under my bonnet and before I had even raised the bonnet all the way I had 5 or 6 people suddenly appear next to the car trying to peak under..

they all looked very dissapointed when they saw it was a stock RB20... hahaa :(

to be honest, the bitching about winners (and it happens every single time) makes me prefer a show with no awards at all.

Apologies Duncan did not mean that to sound like a bitch ... :( ...

Just "my" angle on it & some similar feedback ... great to have the "nons" there ... it helps give the club a friendly, accomodating & positive image ... i think the observations regarding category judging criteria for "nons" will remain until they are removed from competition with Skylines leaving Skylines to be judged against only other Skylines ... it came up at Mingara, Woodville Rd & this time ... as a suggestion it cant hurt to trial keeping the nons & Skylines in seperate categories ... just 1 "BEST NON SKYLINE" trophy with the rest all going to SKYLINE ONLY categories ... just a thought that i believe will alleviate the need for further debate on this as its the only point regarding judging thats ever been challenged ... :D ...

Bitching bout trophies aside (stonechips are the only real trophies)

post more pics an anyone with vids please pm me will pay to see some in Darwin

I AM SO JEALOUS OF YOU ALL

I get so exited to even see a skyline on the streets up here!!!!!!!!!!!

Alright, I was exhausted yesterday when I got home and had a super-mega-uber- power nap.

I'm really happy about how the day turned out, and although there were a few hiccups and non-events I believe the day was a success. The dyno was negotiated right up until the last minute, but unfortunately there was no way we could overcome the barriers left in the path of us and Unigroup Engineering from having it there, up and running. :D Oh well..

So, considering how well the day went overall, I'd like to add to what the rest of the Organising Committee have said already:

  • Thanks to all you guys and girls who came out on the day, whether you had your cars entered or just came along to have a look at what was on display.
  • Thanks to all the traders who showed up, shared their wares, advice, products, or just came along to have a chat and connect with the Skyline and general performance car community.
  • Thanks to Terry Ashwood for bringing out the Skaife/Richards R32 Godzilla - it was good to have such an incredible historic landmark available for us to see in the metal on the day!
  • Thanks also to Rod and Craig Markland for bringing out the R31 GTS-R (and Craig's menacing black M35 Stagea with the Nismo stripes) - another awesome landmark car in the history of Aussie motor racing!
  • A MASSIVE thanks to all the volunteers who helped out during the day with all sorts of behind-the-scenes and "front-of-stage" work - I won't name you all because I'm likely to miss quite a few, but your help is greatly appreciated! You know who you all are!

I really wish I'd had and/or made more time to go and have a proper look around at all the cars, but having looked at some of the photos, I'm absolutely stunned at the high level of quality that was there on the day. :( Good work, ladies and gents!!!

Awesome day, def. a long one

good to catch up with some familiar faces & meeting new ones

highlight for me was the gibson GTR and the hakosuka  always wanted to see them in the flesh

P.s Yoyo, I want your car!!!

how the hell did an Audi get Best Exterior ????

Must admit i dont understand how a non Skyline car can be eligable to enter competition against anything other than non Skyline cars ? ... I believe that BEST INT. / EXT. / ENGINE BAY / ENGINEERING etc can only be won by a Skyline ... not taking away from how fantastic the Audi was but for it to win BEST EXTERIOR i believe there had to be a BEST NON SKYLINE EXTERIOR category ... i was under the impression that all the non Skylines were all up against each other in the BEST NON SKYLINE CATEGORY & only SKYLINES unless specified by model ie: CLASSIC/31/32/33/34/35 were up agianst other Skylines for the BEST INT/EXT/ENGINE BAY/etc ... surely this fair as it is a Skylines Show & Shine ... great to have other cars attend & enter but not great to have them compete in a category that they do not belong in ... if youre a non Skyline youre only competing against other non skylines in a category that has "non Skyline" in its title ... surely only BEST NON SKYLINE is more than sufficient for this. With all the model specific & other specific categories competed for by only Skylines ... ...

there's always one!!!

To put it simply, i found out after the show the Club President chose my car for Best Exterior...so therefore you have a problem with it, take it up with him!

goddamn noisey dino-line!

re classes - only 6 of the 19 were open to non-skylines, and in the end only 2 or 3 of them were won by non-liners. I saw the audi and thought the exterior was excellent.

i guess we could have different rules next time, but while it is a skyline focussed show it's not skylines only - just like we are a skylines enthusiast club not a skyline owners club.

to be honest, the bitching about winners (and it happens every single time) makes me prefer a show with no awards at all. immediately stops all the unhappiness as well as saving the judges running around all day on a hiding to nothing.

thats fine with me as i feel that everyone there was a winner as they all love and cherish their skylines.. and travelled from near and far to hang out with other liners and check out everyones machinery...

to have a winner, you must also have losers.. and i dont think anyone with the same mind frame and passion for a given car is a loser.

the trophys were pretty though.

actually i think there is more than one that feels this way... not to take anything away from your audi... clearly you've spent alot on the exterior and you dig it, and you think its fantastic, and thats great, and its great that duncan picked yours as best exterior.. had it been autosalon i would have no quarms what-so-ever.. i personally didnt take any notice of it... my vote for best exterior wouldve gone to the Drift School S14, with the stitches and the kind of grubbiness that comes with a hard core car. thats what floats my boat and thats just how the world works, everyone is different.

given that the original call out was that the guys wanted all types of skylines to enter as it wasnt a "show and shine" persay.. they didnt just want show quality cars they wanted all sorts of skylines from all walks of life.. i expected the best exterior award to go to a clean original skyline.. like kev's hakosuka.

had the shoe been on the other foot, and one skyline turned up at an audi club show and took out best exterior.. i think the response would be the same.

cheers

Linton

Duncan isn't president, Neil is.

my bad... sorry... meant neil. had duncans race car on my mind... did anyone notice it smelled like coolant?? whats up with that dunc??

muahahaha!

I thought it as a "show n shine" not "scratch and sniff"!

I've had hge overheating problems recently and have had coolant shoot everywhere under the bonnet.....I did clean most of it off the visible bits but the smell is EVERYWHERE! Had it up to 122o at one stage but its still going strong

muahahaha!

hectic bro! haha.

Hi  ... I dont have a problem with it at all ... & if you knew me you would know that i strongly work on principles based upon fairness ... you have completely misunderstood the post ... i am suggesting that because the same point is raised at every SnS regarding this we find a solution to stop the same point needing to be raised again ... as its a Skylines Show n Shine very simply have Skylines judged against other Skylines & non Skylines judged against other non Skylines ... thats not an unreasonable adjustment to make ... your car is amazing im not discounting that it is worthy of recognition & by changing the title of BEST SKYLINE EXTERIOR to BEST NON SKYLINE EXTERIOR would not have changed the result of your winning your trophy because you won the best exterior out of all of them anyway ... what this proposed solution is aiming to achieve is alleviate the need for anyone anytime to have a reasonable need to say anything about this again ... :P ...

Put it this way ... youre at the Annual Audi Show n Shine with all your mates who have an obvious passion for Audis ... youve all worked hard at presenting your cars to look their best ... every one is very supportive of each other and deep down doesnt really care who wins what because there this "common bond" you share that is the passion built round the same thing - Audis ... then BEST EXTERIOR goes to an Enzo Ferrari & BEST IN SHOW a Porshe GT3 ... let the Ferrari take home BEST NON AUDI EXTERIOR & an Audi

BEST AUDI EXTERIOR ...

If this isnt a reasonable solution based upon fairness & equality to an ongoing question that will alleviate the need for anyone to have to ask the same question again then can someone please come up with another one ... :) ...

To say "theres always one" is unnecesary in this instance as i am not participating or promoting "immoral or negative" behaviour in searching for a positive outcome.

.... :P ...

    • Any number of different ways. Have the coils draw sufficient current to provide contact wetting. Use different contacts in the switch, either by material or design, better suited to the low current drawn by a relay coil. Etc.
    • Hmm, how does the R34 manage to have headlight relays then without getting excessive carbon buildup on the headlight switch contacts?
    • Not R7R. Meant to type R&R, obviously enough.
    • Bugger "making it look stock". I put one conventional internally fused Hella relay behind each globe. I just pulled the plugs off the back of the globes and built new loom segments with male and female plug parts to match up to the original loom and the globe, and used the original power wires to each globe coming from the switch through the original loom plug to trigger the relays. Ran a big fat (also separately fused) power wire across the front of the car to feed all the relays. It's as ugly as f**k, but it is wedged down between the headlight and battery on the RHS and the airbox and headlight on the LHS, and no-one ever looks in my engine bay, and on the odd occasion that they do I simply give no f**ks for what they think. Fully reversible - not that you'd ever want to. For f**k's sake. It's a Skyline. They made million of the bloody things. We've been crashing them into roadside furniture for 30 years now. There is a negative side effect to putting relays on the headlights. The coil current is too little to properly clean the contacts in the switches and they get blacked up and you have to open them up every couple of years and clean them manually. I have 25 years of experience on this point.
    • I was poking through the R34 wiring diagrams vs R33 and noticed that the R34 has proper headlight relays while the R33 is like the R32 and sends full headlight power through the headlight switch. I'm not afraid of wiring but I really would like to do this in a way that looks OEM (clipping into open positions on the OEM relay box) and also unlike the factory wiring which interlocks the high beam and low beam on the halogen series 1 GTR headlights I want to make it such that turning on the high beams keeps the low beams on as well. Any advice on how to locate the specific connectors + crimp terminals + relays I need? I was thinking one NO relay for low beams and another for combined high + low running off the factory high beam headlight connector. I don't really want to splice into a crusty old probably discontinued factory harness so fully reversible is my goal here.
