Hi all,

I'm the proud new owner of this 93 Skyline GTS25t, I used to have a 4-door version a few years ago, I couldn't stay away

Anyway, its relatively stock, having just a cat-back exhaust, hi-flow muffler and cheap looking bleed valve boost controller. I'm planning on fitting a better dump/front pipe, and the car came with a Blitz dual SBC that I'm going to get installed. The next planned mod was getting a tune, and that's where I'm not sure.

One of my workmates is offering to sell me a Greddy piggyback computer for $100, but I was also considering getting a Nistune. Being that Nistune's cost around $400 to buy, the piggyback is obviously much cheaper. As of now, I'm not planning to upgrade the turbo(hopefully no AFM issues), so I was wondering if it's worth spending the extra dosh on the fully customisable ECU?

To explain further, this Greddy piggyback resulted in my workmates R33 putting out 260rwhp, with pretty much the same mods I listed above. Another friends R34 is putting out much the same horsepower, same mods with a PowerFC. I know that the peak power only tells half the tale, can anyone comment whether low down/off boost/midrange is much different with full tune rather than just air/fuel?

I thought that they had one now for RB25DET ecu?

EDIT: Ah, I read a bit more of the Nistune website, you're right bozodos, either a Z32 or R32 ecu is needed.

Sounds like a pain in the arse, I might just stick with the Greddy. Thanks anyway guys!

I had read some very vague information about an RB25 solution, IIRC there was some mention of RB25 ECU tuning on Dr Drift's website. I'm in the same boat, don't worry lol, and am keen to see if any progress has been made, otherwise it's a Z32 for me!

at the moment if you want to keep the 25 ecu you have to get it chipped. if you want nistune you need a z32 ecu if you want to keep vct or a r32 ecu if you dont. i'd personally go nistune with a z32 ecu. no piggyback can ever give you the off boost driveability a fully programmable ecu can

Piggy back is fine if you don't plan on upgrading the turbo (or high flowing the stock one). Also $100 is pretty cheap for a piggy back, my 2nd hand SAFC 2 costed around $300ish.

On a side note, do you have an upgraded intercooler of some sort? I would get that as well when you are installing the boost contoller & upping the boost.

Emanage blue is perfect for your mods, i have a GTR customer (t517z's, 700cc and afm's) making mid 350kw with one so your car will be fine.
