Can Learners Get Out Of Speeding Tickets? Do They Get Like 1 Chance?

Recommended Posts

Lol, I thought it was your job to watch your own speed, as you ARE the driver? I think if you are old enough to drive, you should be old enough to take the responsibility of your actions :P

Cmon give him a break, 5ks?

So I ever see you driving 5ks over the limit i will call you irresponsible too?

I'd put in under my oldies too, they're pretty strict when you're on your Ls

I wouldn't risk saying it was you........

The writing a letter and getting a warning only works if you've had 3 full years driving history with a clean record and it's your first fine, and that doesn't include the learner period. P's or full licence only...

Well, my folks are paying it because they are they driver really, they should be watching the speed for me and advising me not to speed

This infuriates me.

I didn't call him irresponsible for speeding, but I said since he WAS driving, he should take the consequences of his own actions.

When I do get done for speeding, I cop it on the chin and learn from it, that's how you'd learn. You do the crime, you do the time.

Simple as that.

Having your L's is the same as on your P's, you can't get more than 5 points in a period of 12 months.

5k's over = 1 point, and like $140 fine.

Good on you for showing them who is boss. You're growing up!

$146 ain't a huge sum to pay, but the points.. ooooh..

then again, i have better things to do with $146, but i'm sure you've seen the thread about them clamping the cars of people who don't pay up. So, you'd better pay.

But i'm sure if it was a speed camera, they snap the picture, and the fine goes straight to the registered owner of the car, correct me if i'm wrong.

That's correct. Also I don't think it really matters if your L plates were up or not, you can just say that your parents paid for it without requesting for a photo, so they didn't know that your L plates was up and you were driving. But then again, do they even check?

But funny thing is, SAU doesn't condone illegal things and isn't this illegal? :)

Mate, you should have your eyes pinned to the speedo, so should your parents. I dunno who is worse. I know that when I was on my L's if I was speeding or doing anything wrong I knew about it straight away. The whole point on learning to drive is learning how to drive properly - this INCLUDES not speeding. I mean fark, a ticket on your L's, what will your P's and full licence going to bring?

Yes, people make mistakes but if you do happen to then man up and cop it on the chin, don't be a child. If you cop it sweet and learn then you've done the right thing and FFS, pay the fine yourself.

/end rant

Exactly.....Glad someone else sees it from the way I see it too

my mum would full yell at me for going like 2km over...and she still does it now and im on my p's

so if i hit like 5km over she wouldnt let me drive for a few weeks lmao

While i was on my learners the moment i managed like 3k or whatever over my dad would make this really annoying disapproving noise...soon taught me to watch my speedo a bit more often so as to avoid it cuz it got on my nerves lol. I got my first ticket a year or 2 into my Ps...10km over...car was in my dads name so the fine was sent to him (camera fine) and i legitimately thought it was a 110 zone not 100 so it was an honest mistake...but after umming and ahhing over whether i should take the point until it was too late, my dad took the point and i paid the fine...with P plates up and he wasnt also fined or anything. Just to answer the question from earlier...about Ls and P plates for a full licensed driver generating another fine. I was prepared to take the point, parents chose to instead however.

    • You'd want to cap off the re-entry back into the dump too. Just something flat that can be held on by the Vband.

    • Looking at the photos, you could easily just drop this pipe and dump into atmosphere  Just 1 or 2 quick hits for data acquisition - if have a heat shield material and/or sheet metal, maybe just use wire/metal cable ties and attach it in a way to deflect heat from melting nearby wires.
