I have a feeling that the Stagea rear end and Skyline rear end are the same - ie. multi links, and as such will be toilet for towing a boat.

So as much as i like them, they are really no better than your skyline in terms of the needs you want - basically a skyline with a boot.

As for the Gen III, I know that a great deal of them have oil consumption problems, due to shit rings and poor running in. They tend to develop piston slap, and this is not limited to the old ones, the current gen 3 still have the problem (though much less common, a problem all the same).

The benefit of buying a late model is that you will be able to diagnose any case of slap straight away, and determine if it is using oil.

As much as I don't like gen III's, a good example is a strong motor - I have seen supercharged examples at 6psi making 220+ rwkW on standard internals - all they need is engine management to keep them from detonating.

Hope that adds. :P

the ss ls1 350chevy go good and making power isn't a problem stroke to 383 or 396 + ATI procharge 8psi looking good for alest 400rwhp maybe more depending on boost.

Also i hav't seen any problems with any yet (a few of my friends own them no problem so far, one friend has a vt which has the 308 he workins in port_hedland and has driven from perth to port about 5+ times and it is still kicking and still got its power)

I would get the VT/VX Gen III Commodore if you want to do any towing. Just make sure the engine isn't suffering from oil usage problems as many of them are. One way to tell is to listen for piston slap when starting from cold, if it does this then stay away. Although it may sound ok but still have this problem, so be careful.

A basic LS1 with breathing mods (exhaust and HSV/Monaro airbox) and an ECU edit would do 220rwkw fairly easily. No need for any supercharging for that level of power. There are some pretty insane supercharged machines on the LS1.com.au forums - check them out sometime :(

whoever said Toyota Chaser is on a good thing...

They are babyed, fast, powerfull (1JZGTE), twin turbo, do a 14.1 stock quarter (in an auto), and they come with good stock pearl paint, 4 door (family cars), they are the biggest sleepers in the world.

GO THE CHASER!! :(

If i was gonna buy a 4 door it would be a chase but i love my coupes :)
