So with Lotus back in the sport, how long until Williams are out??? Old Rubens no doubt will be working hard for them, Hulk isnt a Vettel - Hamo by the looks of it. They are usign lowly Cosworth engines, they are probably operating on a lower budget then STR and based on Rd 1, usually when Williams are at the strongest coming off a fruitful off season, they were racing STR and Force India. They are now behind the big 4, add to that Renault, Force India and perhaps even Sauber and how long can they hold on with no results and no big sponsors to pay for the technical recruitment they need. Sam Michaels, well he can some work on my R32

wow.

just watching the replay on one. 11 laps in, no sign of action. off to mythbusters.

these guys have pulled off an amazing feat in the off season in making F1 *less* interesting than v8 supertaxis!

great to see new teams at last instead of the same old crap. but the racing is rubbish

Well I'll be at the first chicane, and I'll be making sure I don't hold my breath.. Thank f*ck I have an iPhone with some games on it, and music... Need something to occupy myself by the looks of things...

Yeah, or the brabham one they used in F1 years ago.....that only last 1 race or something?

i.e. been there done that.

wait....here

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brabham_BT46#...e_.22Fan_car.22

I know it's been done, the point is that and the gear thing would gaurantee more overtaking

btw, the common denominator between the Brabham race car and the Mac road car is Gordon Murray

any good internet broadcast sites?

hehe, russ got the taste for the f1 after watching that awesome brazil gp at my place! it got me fired up for some more f1 too. but damn this race was lame.

well I have to say I was really excited to see the season start. and all that excitement faded by about lap 10....

firstly getting rid of refuelling is a dumb idea. like troy etc mentioned seeing the cars lapping at nearly 10 seconds off qualy pace is just lame. plus it just robs us of the chance to see passing when you have guys on different strategies. I mean it was hard enough for a 3 stopper who has the benefit of lighter car and more tyres to get past a 1 stopper in the past so how did they think putting every single car on the exact same fuel load would be a good thing??? plus now that the stop time is set by how fast you can change the tyres expect to see mistakes as guys try to change a set of 4 tyres in 1.8 seconds like red bull claim they can do.

the big excitement in years gone by was generated by guys taking different fuel strategies and getting the most out of the points where they had a light car vs everyone else. it enabled teams to strategise. it enabled cars to get passed on track, and get leap frogged in pit stops. with that gone we are left with rubbish.

also, is it just me or do F1 cars look 'cheap' these days? I also notice each car has MUCH less sponsorship than say 3 years ago. look at how many cars have hardly any sponsorship on them. I think some of the new teams have cheapened the sport and spread the sponsorship pool too thinly amongst them all.

seeing all the cars with gaps of a couple of seconds after only a few laps was just a snooze fest. like troy said, expect to see people winning by 40 or 50 seconds.

and these days you don't need to be 2 or 3 seconds a lap quicker to pass but even more than that. webber could not pass button despite being around 1.5 to 2 seconds a lap quicker than him at all points in the race. in the old days he could have used some different pit strategy to get some track position for a stint and pull some quick laps in clean air and pass him that way. now that option is gone. unless you can pass on track you are doomed to circulate behind the bloke for eternity. I also think the new 50 meter pit release rule is lame. that held webber up in his stop and cost him that place to button.

and lol, the smoke out of webbers car was awesome. I saw it an thought... Oh no! here we go again! but it seems for once it was actually just an overfill.

anyway, I'm heartbroken at the moment staring down the barrel of what could be the most boring season in recent memory. even with schumacher back it's not enough to lift my spirits at the moment.

    • Hello! I'm new here, I have an R33 GTST that is currently being finished up! Last year was pretty rough, blew two stock turbos so I decided to build the car. Has been down since November, but I get it back next weekend!
    • Hello, I believe my car was imported to America in the 2000s by Kaizo Industries. Would anyone be able to help me find more info on them? I've only found all the basic stuff like that paul walker bnr34, them being shutdown by feds, just stuff like that. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
    • I am using Motec M150.  I am not working on the car myself actually.  My workshop is giving all these info, they are quite reputable in the industry and are very familiar with Motec and RBs and have done a few big setups with VCam and single turbo on RBs.  In fact, they built and tuned my engine from day one.  But they are stumped with my engine at the moment and cannot work out how come the compression is so low with the VCam. They told me that they have now swapped in some Kelford cams (without the VCam) and can achieve around 130psi compression and the low end torque is better, but now the engine is doughy as.  It boosts and peaks at more than 1000rpm slower, with twin HKS GTIII RS, it doesn't get full boost until over 5000rpm. I have always thought the VCam was a bit disappointing at the low rpm. To a point I had to ride the clutch a fair bit to get up a small hill from stand still.  That was when I had a clutch.  Now changing to a 8HP, I don't have that luxury and this problem has become a major issue. I am beginning to think the VCam never work since the day it was installed.  Maybe it was just sitting at the most advanced point, that is why it went good at top end but very ordinary at the bottom.  Therefore, with the help of the Holinger 6 speed and paddle shift, as long as it was moving, it drove pretty good.
    • yeah, there's a country that recently started importing Skylines, I blame them.
    • I don't have a printer, but could at least attempt to make a printable model.
