Beer Baron
second time this season too. and no meaningful (ie grid) penalty for running out of fuel against the regulations in final qualy, just a $10K slap on the wrist. they reckon a lap of fuel weight there was worth 1.5tenths lap time. McLaren/Hamo are having a very good run with the stewards this year... yes.... bar stewards... story goes it was an oil analysis that picked up the issue. well that makes sense and I will now remove my tinfoil hat and accept that RBR probably aren't stupid enough to sabotage their own drivers starting spot to protect their other whinging driver from getting beaten by him. still interesting that vet started 2nd finished 4th and mark started 7th finished 5th. go webber! agree about rbr being the best of a bunch of bad cards for webber. they are still in a shit hot car so why not sign on for another year. ferrari was looking less and less likely, and the other teams like you said were not exactly greener pastures. the strategy at RBR is still piss poor in general though. they really need to apply some forward thinking to their race strategy. Roy
I think Mark was on the gun strategy for Canada. I think they all assumed they would have got more out of the first set of hards...getting the softs on last fro a run on a gripped up track was the place to be, especially if you had to make up places for a grid penalty. But traffic was terrible. If you were watching th elive timign you would have seen everyones times bouncing all over the place. Webber was affected more because at the time he was flying solo. When a guy racing sees a single car come up and gets the blue flag he does at a very opportune place so that his race or position is not compromised. When you have Alonso, Hamilton, Button and Vettel all marching up on you they tend to move over easier as teh train comes through Still, not a bad weekend for Webz, and I have to say great weekend for Louise Homoton Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/300222-2010-f1-season/page/85/#findComment-5293862 Share on other sites
Kinks
RBR conspiracy? No way.. that's just retarded. Webber has had shit luck his whole career, and he makes his own fortunes IMO. If he tapped the wall during quali it's pretty obvious he damaged his own gearbox, and vettel had issues as well. the RBRs are just too fragile. The race strategy for Webber had me yelling at the TV though. Why continue lapping when you are losing hand over fist to the guy behind you? And the rest of the field? Pit as soon as the tyres start to fall off, put new ones on and then worry about the end of the race. The only thing that happens by staying out is guaranteeing that you are screwed. I thought the RBRs were on the best strategy (hards), was expecting McLaren to fall off a cliff and get chewed up. Interesting race with split strategies though, no rain or safety car even. Go Canada! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/300222-2010-f1-season/page/85/#findComment-5294035 Share on other sites

sh@un
lol @ Brundle calling Alonso "Lewis's best mate" missed that first time 'round oh, and Schumi seems to have become a grumpy old bastard that drives people off the road rather than accept he's too slow (for whatever reason) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/300222-2010-f1-season/page/85/#findComment-5294156 Share on other sites
hrd-hr30
When you've been busting your arse in F1 for 8 years and other formulae for 20 years before that ... it gets a bit wearing. You'd be surprised at what some F1 drivers have walked away from, and when they've walked away from it. Mark is fantastically disciplined and very motivated but everyone has their limits. I think he's happy enough with what he's achieved so far that he could quit now and be satisfied. The only reason he hasn't is because he still feels he can achieve more, and unlike a certain 7-time world champion, he has a good shot at doing so. what, now that he actually has a sniff at a WDC he's going to voluntarily call it quits while he's in the best form of his life??? I don't thnk so! That's what the whole 28 previous years has been about! waxracing
I dont see a stratergy here against Mark I believe its just the way it panned out As far as Schumi just let him get back up to speed, he will be fine when he gets in the right car Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/300222-2010-f1-season/page/85/#findComment-5294807 Share on other sites

I don't thnk so! That's what the whole 28 previous years has been about! I do believe that's the point I made at the end. However it's happened before that drivers in top form with great cars can walk away, because they get tired of being away from family and friends, ultra-strict diets, hardcore training, and risking their lives. I wasn't absolutely certain Mark would continue next year, because he's got plenty to be proud of already. I agree though that while he's still got a shot at the championship he will continue. I don't know if you watched the pre-race on Sunday but he did hint that he thought about retiring after this season in an interview. Go Canada! You would think a 20 second lead would be make you think that fresh tyres might be a good idea. I can't like Hamy and I don't know why, he races well, he drives hard but clean, his misses is hawt, high 5's, j'b, drives better but with less risk / guts, more clinical, webber, dude has shit luck but he always seems to be on the edge of the car's potential and sometimes over steps it, it's where he seems to live... relatively talking about f1 drivers and f1 cars though.... Hamy seems to be on the right side of it and pushes it that close from time to time and jb never really seems to push it that far except the race before canada in tajerkistan after webber pulled a legal swifty on vetel, when jb cought hami and they had to "uphold their honor" and race each other for a little bit before their leashes got yanked. Dunno why anyone's complaining about shuey, it's the same ol shuey being shumy, nothing different really, he started out reserved and now he's being the same aggressive bastard we all came to love him for. The whole canadian race I was thinking, rbr cars just weren't suited to such a high speed straight, slow speed corners track. They rock high speed corners but not really long straights and slow corners, high on aero tracks, I was not expecting them to be anything near contention. the lower speed corners wearing the living end out of tyres.. definetly the macs and feza zone, I was expecting the feza's to have the upper hand but I guess the mac's dialed back enough aero for the track. Great race, was thoroughly entertained from beginning to end, this season has been fun and I am happy the FIA is completely bending over for the most established teams having a cry over not being on every podium. Tektrader69
I finaly got around to watching the race I recorded last Sunday. What a corker !! But WTF is with Schumaker ?? He is like a moving chicane !! His comeback is just as I expected. A joke. As much as I think Homo is a bit of a tosser. He drove an excellent race. It was quite bizzare that RBR seemed to give up half way through with Vetool just falling further and further behind. They KNEW they couldnt match the Mac's speed so didnt seem to try. If Mark had of come in when he was 20 odd sec's in front the race would have been quite different. The softies seemed to be able to cope a LOT better later on in the day with a rubbered track and light fuel load.
