Looks as though this season's going to be all RBR. Vettel realistically should've had 3/3 already. Hopefully for Ferrari, Mercedes and McLaren they've got some serious updates coming!

I will be quite happy with an RBR WDC and Constructors :P Dont really care if its Vettel or Webber, though if the first 3 races are anything to go by, especially the last race then Webber really needs Vettel on the 3rd row to have a hope of winning a race ;)

Shanghai in 13 days :(

By barcelona, pretty much everybody will have copied the f-duct... apparently. I hope the Mclaren engineer who thunk it up got himself a hell of a bonus!

Other than that and redbull's supposed ride height/undertray structure being slightly cheeky, nobody thought up anything new? Disappointing

all the truly revolutionary tech has been tried in the past and has been either adopted across the board or outlawed by the FIA- not much scope for major innovation anymore

loved it- looked great. shame He won't be able to get away with it again now He's been given a warning for it

it's all been covered now, but He wasn't blocking Petrov as Vitaly wasn't anywhere near close enough to attempt an overtake, and wouldn't have been able to pass when pulling into clear air anyway

Personally the weaving was bollocks. I bet if that was JPM he would've got whacked with a stop-go! A drive through would have sufficed however.. What he did was foolish, dangerous and most unnecessary in my opinion, such demonstrations only serve to further my dislike and distaste for Loulou, as such he isn't doing himself any favours by continually placing himself in such polarising positions..

the one move per straight rule/driving standard has been in place for many years now.

petrov not close enough? you couldn't get any closer without being alongside! he was as close if not closer than the last lap where he did pass hamilton.

Agreed. Can you imagine the world wide outrage had it been Schuey who had of done it.

as if petrov was going to try and pull along side someone while they are weaving side to side

Exactly, pulling alongside someone weaving so erratically would be as daft and idiotic as the weaving itself! In all seriousness, as if Petrov really had any other alternative OTHER than to follow Homoton and has ridiculous weaving. If doucheton had half a brain he would've gone to the pitwall and held his mac on the inside line, if in fact Petrov didn't have the speed as claimed, then Ruskie would've not had a chance on the outside. I find myself becoming more and more repulsed by this robotic twat, a few people here and a lot on crash are claiming that he did it to break the tow and was not 'blocking' as such. If weaving in that fashion had PREVENTED the following driver (in this case, Petrov) from attempting an overtaking manoeuvre, then could that not be deemed 'blocking' on those grounds??? As Savman said, as if Petrov was dumb enough to try, that would've caused a catastrophic accident at such speed.. I fear a dangerous precedent may have been set in Malaysia, I hope that 'IF' the next example of this is displayed, it is crushed with impunity, punished severely, and no longer left to blight this already badly tainted sport.. :)

In the usual drafting scenario, the chasing driver will pull out of the stream to attempt an overtake, and then the defending driver is allowed that single change of line in defence of his position; but here Hamilton moved first, and Petrov followed

If He was close enough to overtake, why not just stay on line and drive past? There was more than enough space. It's not like Lewis would have driven in to Him if He'd pulled along side. It was Vitaly's decision to follow in Lewis's wheel tracks and stay in His mirrors. I wouldn't be inclined to really call it dangerous since it was well before the braking zone.

At worst it was a little cheeky, but fair enough for the stewards to issue the warning.

The braking zone isn't brought to question, as you said, the event occurred no where near the braking zone. However, Hamilton's reckless weaving prevented Petrov from making ANY move and deprived him of any 'safe' opportunity to overtake, what was hazardous that the cars were accelerating rapidly and at that point of the straight they would still have been going awfully fast, and as such, a prang between the two could have been potentially horrendous. Imagine if every leading car weaved like Hamo did? Chaos would ensue, and there would be some almighty pile-ups, it would be little more than open-wheeler F1 NASCAR.. That is one thing I NEVER want to see.

At worst a little cheeky?? You've got to be kidding! If Petrov had called the bluff and sailed up next to Hamo, only for them to have collided, I wonder if you'd be saying the same thing???

I'm saying He wouldn't have moved back across track if Vitaly had nosed along side. He obviously knew exactly where Petrov was. To hear you tell the story, you'd think the Renault was closing on Hamilton like a Veyron coming up behind a 3-cylinder Daihatsu. The McLaren's have currently got the most straight-line speed of all the field anyway.

Anywho, I'm over this now. Have the last word if you want.

I just like how the BBC commentary team didn't even mention the weaving.

Let's face it. He shouldn't be doing it. Yes he drove a great race and overtook many cars during the GP, but I think the weaving was going too far in trying to defend his position.

Well I think it is fair to say that it is true that the Mac has the highest straight line speed of all the cars on the grid (thanks to the Merc engine and F-duct). However, Petrov did get better drive out of the hairpin and was tucked up pretty close to loulou's gearbox, he would've been getting a decent dose of slip-stream up the straight, so in that sense the Renault had every opportunity to retake position much like the previous lap. Horses for courses I suppose, whether it is lewis or not I don't care, just because I don't like him much doesn't mean this is a witch-hunt, if it had of been Petrov doing it to lewis, I may well poke some fun at loulou, but I'd be having a fair crack at Petrov, or any other driver for that matter, Webz, Sebvet, Schumi, Nando, anyone... It is just unfortunate for loulou that he is regularly finding himself involved in these silly predicaments...

    • Harness update time have had great fun and learnt so much already so far with this project. I started off making both the ignition and injector sub harnesses in the hope any mistakes i made here aren't as hard to undo and learn from as the main harness.  A cool comparison of the old harness using presumably TXL wire and the new which is using Tezel. Also opted to use DTM plugs to keep the whole setup as neat and tidy as possible and tucked the wiring under the coil bracket to try and keep it all from sticking out too much. Although the injector harness, I'm not overly happy with as I'm still using the rubber boots that are supplied with the type of plugs it just looks ugly and sticks out like a sore thumb with the white identifiers so a slight redesign may be done.   Then it was main harness time and most importantly trying to route it nice and away from the heat it will use the OEM heater hose routing which is no longer present to keep the harness up high and secure. it's amazing how much smaller this harness is able to be compared to the old one. plugged everything into the emtron and with the help of the tuner again attempted to start it up and instantly fired up and running smoothly on all 6 which was a big shock to myself. So still some routing and adjusting to be done for the final fit up and installing a knock sensor harness plug which is in the post all has gone surprisingly well.     The old harness for shits and giggles.
    • They do that at random every now and then, with almost no detectable cause. Mine has done it a couple of times (over 25 years!!). Never worked out why.
    • I don't post on here and have been lurking for some time now. Many of the topics have helped me out more times than i can count. I was racing yesterday (11/9) and blew a front right CV shaft. I have spares so I popped a new one in. A thread i read previously said to check the engine mounts if you blow a front CV. Upon inspection, the front right mount was completely separated from the upper plate. This discovery saved me time and money, because i would have blown another CV if i went back out. Just wanted to thank you guys and wish everyone luck with with their builds. (Now if we could only come up with a solution for my power steering belt flying off after hitting the rev limiter, lol)
