Oil leak question

Hi guys,

I've just had the mechanic that passed my car (my new R32 GT-R tell me that there's an oil leak between the engine and the gearbox.

Is this a common problem? He says to fix it properly he has to take the gearbox out! But he can fix it quickly tghrough the sump?! All jargon to me.

I don't want to be ripped off, so how much should I be paying to fix this leak? A rough figure.

it sounds like its leaking from the rear crank seal dude .

$10 for the seal and 4 hours work to r+r the gearbox to replace the seal .as for the cost it depends how much he is charging for labour .

its not a problem with the skylines but an age problem as with any old car .

the only way to fix it is to replace the seal there is no other way .

you can always get another mechanic's opinion or maybe even a third... a reputable one... which is kinda hard to find
