Hey - was interested if anyone knew how much it would cost to buy and install a body kit onto my r33 non turbo coupe skyline (i am planning on buying one after christmas). If anyone knows an average price or even where i could ring someone to find out how much it costs to fit a full body kit it would be appreciated. I will be around melbourne at the time of buying one but i will be back on the gold coast later.

Thanks to anyone who reads this :)

Luke.

Allow say $1k to paint and fit, plus depending on kit possibly another 800-1000 depending on quality

It really depends on the quality of the kit and how much fitment work u want someone to do putting it on the car...

R33 full kits are like $500 + $80 postage on ebay. But they are fibreglass. If you want plastic, you're looking at something like $2000 for the kit by itself.

Fit/Paint....Depends on who you take it to really. If they charge extra for fitting...I'd fit it myself to save some cash. But yeh, painting will cost you $500 minimum.

errr. if you buy a 500$ kit on ebay.. then you deserve everything that it is..

a fiberglass kit is roughly 800-100k

a plastic one for a skyline.. well that's another story.. expect to sell your arse for that

edit. mind you unless your looking for genuine nismo etc secondhand ones then maybe they will be resonable price

Have heard about some of the ebay kits people are buying horrible fitments so much work needed and for those after a cheap kit it is the best option but dont expect quality fitment.

Even mine had gaps on the rear bar for fitment and sagged under drivers headlight...but that was temporary kit until what my cars just had fitted and painted so wasnt fussed. Also check how many layers of fibreglass used cause that makes it cheaper but u'll have more driveway damage

Hey I wasn't endorsing it, just letting him know what his options are, and since the thread is called "cost estimation" I'm assuming cheapest one is required.

$1000 for a fibreglass kit? err, yeh gold plated it better be.

And besides, not everyone can afford expensive kits, Just coz they've got an import.

he meant 100k as in 100 000... and yes a fiberglass kit is roughly 1k.. i suggest you ring up before giving this advice.. it was even quoted on both above me

NA Goodness - 2k for kit, paint & fit.. so roughly 800 -1000 for kit and 1k -1200 for paint and fit

ShyBoi - Allow say $1k to paint and fit, plus depending on kit possibly another 800-1000 depending on quality

if you can find me a brand new PLASTIC kit for 1k.. reference it to me

just to give you an idea.. i was looking at genuine Do-Luck kit.. roughly 10k..

if he wasnts the cheapest kit then yes ebay is the go.. but if he wants the cheapest kit to actually go on the car then no it prob isnt unless he does the work himself cause there would be alot of labour involced to get the kit to fit and the panel shop is going to charge for man hrs.. or do a plain shithouse job..

1k isnt expensive at all.. if you can't afford a decent job of it then dont get it.. its not an expensive kit..

Well..upto him. Depends on how much he wants to spend.

Nah i didn't say I could get a plastic kit for 1000, I WISH!!

I've had fibreglass front bars crack twice on me already, after hitting high angle roads. You never really appreciate plastic until you get fibreglass :)

fibreglass is the way to go....

plastic is great, but its just too expensive.

if you run real low fibreglass WILL get smashed tho, i go through a front bar every 18 months or so

Easy way to put it depending on the kit

Front Bar: $300-350

Side Skirts: $200-250

Rear Bar: $250-350 depends on what you want unless you leave it standard

I know you can get $500 kits on ebay and that but they only have like 2-3 layers of fibreglass which means if you kit anything it'll crack from say your fenders down about 15cms just hitting a driveway. The other ones people are quoting have like 6 layers of fibreglass so if you hit a driveway you'll maybe get a crack like 3cms...so strength of the fibreglass is important as hamish said you may go through a bar per year otherwise...depending how low the car is.

    • I know this one’s the BB one. My tuner did make mention about the actuator. I am curious about the VCT as well
    • Might also needs a stronger actuator with the right preloading. With older 2019 built bush G3 units, BB upgrade or 21U housing down size makes a pretty decent gain in response as well.
    • Hey lads  so im finally putting together my rb30 forged bottom end and ran into an issue. I measured my main bearing clearance with arp main studs torqued to 60 ft-lbs using ACL H series STD size bearings and standard, un-ground crank shaft journals and got an oil clearance reading of about 1.3 thou measuring straight up and down and about 2.8 thou measuring at a 45 degree angle (just above and below the parting line). My machine shop said they measured the main tunnel and it was all within spec (they didnt say the actual measurement) and to go with a standard size bearing, which i have done and the clearance is too tight, I'm guessing because of the extra clamping force from the arp studs distorting the main tunnel. I was wanting to run about 2.5 thou main bearing clearance.  My questions are: 1. could i just use the HX extra 1 thou clearance ACL bearings? that would fix my straight up and down clearance making it about 2.3 thou, but then would the side to side clearance be too big at around 3.8 thou? 2. what actually is the recommended main bearing clearance for measuring near the parting line / side to side. i know its supposed to be bigger as the bearing has some eccentricity built into it but how much more clearance should there be compared to the straight up and down measurement? at the moment there is about 1.5thou difference, is that acceptable or should it be less? 3. If i took the engine block + girdle back to the machine shop and got them to line bore the main tunnel (like i told them to do the first time, but they said it didnt need it) what bearing size would i buy? the STD size bearing shells already slide in fairly easily with no real resistance, some even falling out if i tip the girdle up-side-down. If im taking material out of the main tunnel would i need a bearing with extra material on the back side to make up for it? this is probably confusing af to read so if something doesn't make sense let me know and ill try explaining in a different way. My machine shop doesn't come back from christmas break until mid January, hence why i'm asking these questions here. TIA for any help or info
    • I bought the model back in Japan in Feb. I realised I could never build it, looked around for people who could build it, turns out there's some very skilled people out there that will make copies of 1:1 cars or near enough. I'm not really a photo guy... but people were dragging me in a group chat for the choice of bumper as someone else saw the car before it was finished as they are also a customer of that shop. I took the photo in the above post because I was pretty confident that the lip would work wonders for it. Here's some more in-progress and almost-done pics. It gives a good enough idea as to what the rear looks like!   I have also booked in a track day at the end of January. Lets all hope that is nothing but pure fun and games. If it's not pure fun and games, well, I've already got half an engine spare in the cupboard
    • Well, do ya, punk? Seriously though, let's fu<king go! The colour and kit looks amazing on the car. Do you have any shots from the rear? I don't quite follow how the model came around. You bought the white kit and he modified it to match your car? Looks nuts either way!
