Midnight Purple R33 Gtst

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I'm looking at buying a r33 soon and I really have my heart set on a midnight purple r33, but they seem really hard to find.

Is that color only on the 40th anniversary editions? I've seen a few midnight purple ones on the net but they didnt have the 40th anniversary badges or anything. How rare is this color? I don't really want to be waiting for ages trying to find a decent one when i could just buy more common color.

Cheers.

Hi,

I reckon there are about 40-50 of these in Australia.

I had one of these til a month ago, really beautiful colour especially when it's parked out in sun.

Yes this colour is only available in 40th Anniversary Edition, some has its badge removed (I don't like the look of the badge personally).

There are 2 of these up for sale in Melbourne at the moment (my previous car and Ross - MP_R33's), unsure about other states though.

If you have the patience, get one in MNP as it'll really stand out compared to all other R33's in white or silver!

Cheers

If you look up the color codes for the R33 series midnight purple was only available in the GTR. I have seen a few GTS-T's in this color but they have been resprayed. I maybe wrong but.

Between '01 to '03 I had a MNP R33 GT-R.

'Twas the best coloured car I've ever had since owning vehicles from 1970.

It can look black under overcast weather or towards shade > dark/bright purple with pearl/fleck in bright sunlight.

UWISSH at the SnS won an award with his MNP 5 days ago.

They do come in this colour - only exclusive to 40th Anniversary edition (late '97 to April '98), easiest way to know if it's genuine is look at blue build plate on drivers side firewall next to brake booster and look at colour code and see if it is marked 'LP2' - that is factory Midnight Purple.

I know this cos I had one until a Month ago (gave it away for a song and kinda regretted it), as I've said, it's truly beautiful colour.

in my small town there is like 4-5 of them getting around, all resprayed the midnight purple look.

i was thinking of doing it but whats the point when nearly every skyline here is midnight purple.

When a paint colour is THAT good, no wonder it creates a FASHION STATEMENT lol

    • Welcome.  Glad to hear that you have gained some knowledge that has helped you. I believe the only fix for the power steer belt is an electric conversion with a Holden astra pump. If you get a chance, post pics of your car, please. 🙂

    • Harness update time have had great fun and learnt so much already so far with this project. I started off making both the ignition and injector sub harnesses in the hope any mistakes i made here aren't as hard to undo and learn from as the main harness.  A cool comparison of the old harness using presumably TXL wire and the new which is using Tezel. Also opted to use DTM plugs to keep the whole setup as neat and tidy as possible and tucked the wiring under the coil bracket to try and keep it all from sticking out too much. Although the injector harness, I'm not overly happy with as I'm still using the rubber boots that are supplied with the type of plugs it just looks ugly and sticks out like a sore thumb with the white identifiers so a slight redesign may be done.   Then it was main harness time and most importantly trying to route it nice and away from the heat it will use the OEM heater hose routing which is no longer present to keep the harness up high and secure. it's amazing how much smaller this harness is able to be compared to the old one. plugged everything into the emtron and with the help of the tuner again attempted to start it up and instantly fired up and running smoothly on all 6 which was a big shock to myself. So still some routing and adjusting to be done for the final fit up and installing a knock sensor harness plug which is in the post all has gone surprisingly well.     The old harness for shits and giggles.
