Imperial Auto you mean? The owner's son name is Brent?

Yea that's them was really good dealing with them wish i had the extra coin for the bayside blue GTT they have there

How are you finding the colour mismatch with the Series 1 cluster and the Series 2 triple gauges? I'd be changing one to match the other :)

Didn't really notice but i dunno guess i'll see if i get sick of it i'll change one

i think what dan's trying to say here is that if they put a s1 cluster in then its prob due to the fact that the klms on the cluster arent genuine to the car..

i didnt actually notice it was s1.. was too busy looking at the chrome bezels and the carbon fibre? surround.. looks like mine (except mine IS s2 cluster :))

Does s2 have and orange coloured dash same as the gauges? i really don't like the orange would like to change the gauges to white if possible. If it has more k's than the 88000 i would be pretty surprised everything in the car is good nick and general wear points such as under the drivers pedals is not even really noticeable.

if they did a major service (i.e. the 100k's timing belt and all that) do they usually put a sticker or something in the engine bay to show that it has been done? if so i might have a look around would be really strange if original owner put a higher k cluster in the car as it would make no sense at all unless like me he doesn't like the orange

I believe most imports will NOT have geniune mileage unless they've got logbook (even so you cant really trust them 100%). The good news is that the shown mileage wouldnt be TOO FAR away from the actual mileage. It quite hard to believe the clock's been wound back like 100,000km. To be more realistic it's probably had an extra 20,000-50,000km only and if the engine compression test is good, doesnt matter much (its not a rotor).

Mines got a lil sticker that said oil changed at 50,000km+ in the end of 1999 (jap) and now the clock is showing only 70,000km+. How is that possible? A lot can happen during that 9 or 10years but I dont believe it has only done 20,000km. But then again, there are people like myself that hardly drive their car especially when you have a daily. Since we've got a 2nd car in the family, I probably will be doing less than 10,000km a year.

Dont be too bothered by the fact that mileage isnt genuine. If engine and everything else is fine, chances are they wouldnt give you any problems at all. And really if it does bother you, next time when you're buying an import try asking for logbooks and you'll find that you'll be paying a lot more extra for a few pieces of paper. Worth it or not, its up to you to decide.

Yea that's what i reckon i mean 92 model silvias and skylines with less than 150k's? not likely lol but you see it all the time anyway. I guess to be safe i'll get the timing belt and water pump done a bit earlier maybe at 90k's. When i was looking at cars i just wanted it to be 2000 model or newer and to have around 120000k's or less and when i look at the condition of interior and such of this car i would find it hard to believe it has done more than 120k's.

When i get the major service done i'll ask the mechanic to have a bit of a look at the timing belt to see if it looks really worn or not. It is possible that the cluster got changed to one that was similar k's to current wouldn't know why but.

    • Sounds like it may all just be some baseless outrage stoked by the carexplore guy? As in the linked social media outrage on facebook just goes back to carexplore as a source again. Further shown by the council response that nothing actually has changed: "The Private Land Use Permit has been part of the Casey Community Local Law for a number of years. It's important to clarify that this permit is not new, and no changes have been made to the permit or the Local Law in relation to the permit." The full council response in Prank's link sounds reasonable to me. Saying that as someone who neither lives there nor has a front yard to call their own
    • Clutch hydraulics are also all good, looks like a brand new slave cylinder and everything bled up well. No idea what the actual clutch is, and I don't intend to pull the box off on the floor to find out, so unless we have trouble on the dyno or at shakedown that will remain a mystery for the new owner
    • Front brakes are G4 8 pot calipers over 330mm discs with braided lines. Everything looks good, pretty sure these are off my old 350. Pads are brand new and judging from gold colour are Winmax which is what I also run on my race car, Neil and I both sourced brake stuff from Matty at Racebrakes Sydney who really knows his stuff Everything has bled up nicely with all new Motul RBF600 fluid, there were 2 loose hard line connections and the calipers were new on the car so I ended up doing it 3 times but it is perfect now
    • So, starting with the rear brakes. They look like standard R33 GTST, and will need new pads shortly (less than 5mm material, probably only 1 day left). The slotted discs (probably DBA) are near new at 18.01mm and the lines are braided
