Spotted a VERY schmick looking R32 in deep deep blue/purple of some kind on my street this morning. Never seen the car before, someone must be visiting, or maybe a new purchase?? (hope not, wasn't even parked off the street!) Anyway, some nice scenery to start the day :ermm:

God, we're common as muck these days!!: While getting a lift with dad, waiting at some lights behind a blue R32 GTR, a black 4 door R34 being driven by a middle-aged woman pulled into the intersection going the other day, then we followed the R32 to our next intersection, and there was a silver R33 with a black bonnet and GTR wing waiting at the lights, which then passed us as I got dropped off.

Hey wait.. R32, R34, R33... BINGO!!!! :w00t:

Followed a silver R32 out of Queanbeyan last night, think it had decals up the side (Mick?).

Yeah that was me, I saw you too... I was kinda waiting for you to accelerate up on my right so I could say g'day but you stayed behind me th whole way.

P.S. Your driving lights are really bright, you might need to adjust them down a little (or it could have just been cos my car is very low) :w00t:

silver 33 (think it was a gtr, ambulance was blocking the view) on roundabout near fyshwick markets and silver 34 with no wing at the lights near the markets around 3:30pm

2 maroon 33s at the mawson shops area around 4:30pm

there was more but i cant remember details. Did see a pretty TA22 celica but that belongs on another forum :D

oh yah forgot, last wed / thur night at around 9:-10PM had a silver BNR32 with stock wheels (i think) over take me near Oaks Estate power station. Was just after going over the newer (of the two) bridge.

I was whipping through there in a white Corolla, and when it came up, i thought it was a cop so slowed down. Made a chill go up my spine, seeing it in the rear view then over taking.

Nah, you were doing the speed limit, i had no reason to get past you. The decals up the side really suit your car by the way.

I'll take a look at the lights, pretty sure they're ok though but then i'm always the one driving it!

Thanks, I always wanted (since I was about 13) to have an R32 with Nismo 400R style stripes... And now I do. ;)

I think your lights are ok, my car is just much lower than "normal" traffic so its probably just the angle that I was on.

don't worry about your lights, it was probably the reflection from one of the frangipanis on his car :)

You'll take any chance you can get to mention the bloody Franjipani's!!! :D Youre a mean woman...

    • If shift solenoid A is bad, that explains limp mode --- now you're in the same position as I mentioned previously, in that the next step is to confirm loom/wiring integrity from TCU to gearbox connector with a multimeter (the TCU cannot detect a broken wire, which can happen ..ie; rodent damage, loom rubbed through)...and then finally measure resistance (at the gearbox connector) for shift solenoid A ... ...once you confirm shift solenoid A is bad (open circuit, really low or greater than 40ohm resistance), then it's a job ; you have buy a complete solenoid set, get under the car and drop transmission oil pan, and remove valvebody assembly (the solenoids sit on top), replace solenoid set, and reassemble....it's not exactly a fun task, but readily doable.
    • Is it oil smoke or fuel smoke? They smell different.
    • I only use rubber also. I have an intense distrust of silicone for coolant.
    • Clamp meter will probably tell you lies. PWM DC looks a bit like AC (because the voltage is going up and down rapidly), but it is not AC because the voltage never goes negative and the current never reverses direction. But because it looks like AC, and it is happening at high frequency, at can cause wierd reactive effects. Just be warned that you might learn things that are....confusing. Because they aren't necessarily real.
    • Appreciate the detailed response! It's all new technology to me and your suggestion for reducing DC and finding sweet spots seems like a great approach.   I'll chuck a clamp meter on it at the same time and figure out whats happening at different settings to get a good understanding.   Will report back with my findings when I get around to it to help anyone in the future that will be in the same situation as me 😁
