May or may not have spotted me doing a naughty thing in the name of resolving my boost issues. Let's just say I confirmed that the ceramic honeycomb was at fault, and I'm never doing that again. I put f**king Harley motorcycles to shame.

you have no idea how much I wish there were no noise restrictions/cat converters after that. Amazing.

Although having said that, I can't see how a visibly mint condition ceramic cat can suddenly pose SUCH a restriction! It looked exactly the same inside as when it was last off the car (when I didn't have these issues) so I don't get it. I even bashed the shit out of it with a spanner and nothing looked crumbled behind it...

oh well, time to replace it with a nice metal cat and hope that it was the cause, and not anything stuck in my catback/muffler causing the issue >_<

there is always the option of a hollowed out VL ( i know a swear word) CAT... i've heard of that being done a bit.. looks the goods and the only way they can check it is to pull the thing off... nice free flow then..... lol

i can only imagine the noise it would have made as well.. i remember taking my old datto down hindmarsh to the exhaust shop with the exhaust chopped at the extractors..... and that was loud..... i was just waiting to get done..

It's not very hard to tell when a car is running a hollowed out cat, the smell for one is a dead giveaway.

I did it briefly when I had my Metalcat on order and the horrible tune on it didn't help but the GTR was also shooting flames like a motherf**ker. That bit was actually kinda cool LOL.

bahahaha, well yeah Kat, depends on WHEN it can come back though. I'd like to get this sorted ASAP >_< How would it need to come back from Sydney, and how much you want for it? Also, size?

Yeah Dale, the sounds was absolutely amazing....exactly this this, but without the cyclic idle and GT35R whistle.

I would use a hollowed out cat, but ONLY until I got my hands on a proper one. I might just bash the shit out of mine temporarily, but Kat's right, you can surely smell the difference. Even though mine was missing the rest of the exhaust system too which would make a small difference, holy shit did it stink!

Spotted a silver 33 4 door on the tuggers parkway between the cotter and lady denman drive exits heading north at 9:45? Pulling along side you doesn't mean that I want to race, it means I'm checking out your car.

Wow... this is the only post spotting a car in atleast the last 10 posts

    • Excuse me for butting in....but which part of ADHD can be considered a superpower? I would have though it far more likely that some ASD comorbidity is more likely to be contributing to an ability to hyperfocus on something. ADHD being aimed somewhat in the other direction. My shed looks like your shed. My whiteboard list of unfinished projects has entries going back 15 years. I know what you're talking about - I just struggle to connect ADHD to the results being discussed.
    • Thanks for reaching out!  It's a blessing and a curse at the same time.  I'm undiagnosed but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see it in me... I have more half started projects laying around my house, shed, garden, etc taking up space and money, destroying aesthetics than if I added up all of my mates projects together. But, ADHD gives me the ability to hyper focus on things that no mere mortal could even  comprehend.  A recent pool build is an example of that....  I dont know anyone else that would be dumb enough and focused enough to take on then complete something of that magnitude. I call ADHD a superpower but it can equally be completely destructive if not controlled and focusedon the right places. Addiction is a major concern to ADHD people and thankfully my addictions have been no worse than projects, XBOX, chocolate and being an arsehole! It's often hereditary and my 13 year old son is currently learning how to drive it at the moment. Keep lurking! If i can finally finish this bloody thing at some point it will be a win for all of us ADHD'ers! 🤪
    • I've been quietly following this thread for ages, but this one got me. Since my ADHD diagnosis (and associated learnings and prescription) I'm way less inclined to wade into forum yarns when there are better things to do with my time, as half the time I'd end up in some kind of forum debate even if that wasn't my intention. I've not lost the ADHD "superpowers", just am a lot better at directing my hyperfocus into slightly more constructive things, but haven't stopped quietly lurking in here in my spare time.
    • Stripped the tank down and gave it a good scrub. It came up really good! Not sure if I'll just put it back in like that or give it a blackening treatment (such as Bowdens The Black Box). That might give it a matte look so might just run it as is.
    • @MBS206 Ha ha, yeah ADHD is a daily battle to not get drawn in to doing things you want to do that you know you shouldn't do!  Every single time I walk into my shed I end up doing something I started the day having zero intention of doing! I keep mentioning the 1 step forward, 3 steps back scenario and I'm tipping people that are blessed with ADHD (yes, blessed) are the worst at that!
