Well, it's back and it sure as hell looks better than ever :)

The rear bar is still to go on (Insurance not paying for the fit/paint in the end.), when that goes on (Post New Year) I will have the side strips painted. Fit and finish of both the bar and sides is excellent, a big thank you to Casanova Crash, they did a stand up job. Also waiting on the decals for the TE37's (Blue/White), should set the wheels off a bit. Interior is schmick, treated the leather after not having the car for 4 months, it came up a dream. Sound system cranks with 3 amps, 2 pairs of Type R splits and a Pioneer 12" sub, but I will be treating myself to a new Alpine Type R sub for chrissy I think :)

Car drives beautifully post service with Kidafa, new plugs, filter, oil. Disappointed that the mechanic put a new service interval placard up (+5000kms) without dropping the oil, I'm desperately hoping that the engine hasn't suffered because of it. I will be dropping the oil again within a few weeks to make sure the oil is free of sh!t.

So exterior/interior is all but done for the time being, once the engine work has been performed I will look at upgrading to 18" TE37's, but that should be about it :).

it's so f'n good to have my car back... 14 months. F that.

harts. :D

Thanks guys!

Black bonnet was a compromise, wanted carbon but didn't want too much heat from the powers that be, plus the painting of the wheels was meant to be in theme, I'm stoked with with the overall result. The bonnet isn't gloss by the way, it's satin (as are the wheels) to add a bit more contrast. It was all sort of designed around a less showy (read: airbrushed, chrome wheels, neons etc etc) more serious streeter ideal. So many of my friends with S15's and the like came down on me for painting the wheels black hehe, can't wait to blow them off and explain the performance differences between TE37's and Lenso D1R's

I have an awesome pic of a white jap stagea drifting with a black bonnet/takero's kit/black wheels, i'll post it up sometime (it was 1/2 the inspiration for the bonnet turning black and overall colour scheme)

im not a fan of black bonnets, but thats not bad it kinda grows on ya. but i think u'll get just as much heat from the fuzz as u would with a carbon one. cos they will think its carbon.

    • Something to note, on an aftermarket turbo, it's quite possible to end up with the worst of both worlds, where on light throttle, there isn't enough force to open the BOV so you get small reversion and driveability issues, and with the venting to atmosphere, it dumps a lot of fuel on shifts. Realistically, dumping to atmosphere under power isn't a major driveability issues, compared to the issues of stalling from reversion. If you're getting up the throttle, then putting the clutch in, say on a shift up, but then don't release the clutch, yes, the engine can and will stall, but, just drive around it, and that's easy, let the clutch out in the next gear and the car rolling will keep it all running / going.who wants a hard hit of throttle and then to just let the motor idle anyway?   Main issue for driveability is blipping throttle and it wanting to stall, like when parking or trying to move in slow traffic.
    • As in they quoted one price, you mentioned the exhaust, and they promptly added $200 on top? Interesting.
    • Note that I'm not suggesting this is a great idea. Just saying that it is something that could be done to achieve a better outcome than the more shit ideas will provide.
    • I'd try removing it, connecting hoses and see if that helps. Depending on specs, it could actually be restricting the flow(it also might be helping).
    • Yes, that's a hybrid BOV. The adjustable spring load ones are about making teh pressure build up higher before venting, so you get a more agressive whoosh. That is not what I meant or what you want. By "restricting", I don't mean "keep it closed until the pressure is higher, then open it fully". I mean "open it as soon as it is required, but only have a small port area, so that the flow rate out of it is slowed down". The pressure will rise to be higher than a bigger ported BOV would provide, but it would do while it is venting. The idea is to slow down the rate at which the replacement eair is flowing past the AFM, to reduce the magnitude of the air flow signal peak, to reduce the amount of fuel that is added per revolution.
