K&H has recently been purchased by 3M products, and have been on par with their tinters, fillers, putties, primers and other various products for quite some time.

GMH Matt Black is the colour you used, yes?

Doesn't matter if it rubs off man, really doesn't. wash it, dry it, hit it with a rattle can and enjoy the f**k out of the hardcore street cred a rattle-can job gets you. lol.

i did it rattle can because i didnt want to have to worry too much over the paint job lol even tho im getting graphics, they arent gonna be anything like what the 34 has on her.

but yeah id say the K&H stuff is prob a lot better than the cheap as chips rattle can paint lol :P

  • 2 weeks later...

lots of things (dosent feel like it tho lol) have been done with the 31 latley........all door trims are now with aluminum, handbrake has been removed, coolant system has gotten a really good clean out, tacho has been installed....complete with shift light the size of a 20c piece lol......gauges have been dummy fitted and just need to be hooked up......tow bar is removed.

managed to finally get a few practice launches with her....not as easy as what i thought (a lot easier in the R34 which is manual, mainly cause i can hold the revs as high as i like but with the 31 she isnt budging over 2 grand atm) however in saying that im not getting any wheelspin which is definelty a good thing for sure......when she picks up after the launch she goes hard and frikin fast i couldnt believe how well she actually went..........im definelty going to be looking into maybe going to heathcote later on the year to see how she goes on the 1/4 mile.

anyway thats about it for now will be posting up pics soon :)

lol

nah the graphics for this creature are gonna be pretty simple, gotta have all the sponsors on there but will have a two tone effect with some gloss black "tribal/swirl" graphics happening.

what do you get from these "sponsors"? my car is covered in stickers from differnt places aswell, but i dont get jack from them.

Im very suprised people are sponsoring the car when its not even close to being finished, nor is there a drag strip in SA...so i cant really see local company's sponsoring a "drag Car' when there is no where in SA for you to race and give them their exposure.

Not trying to put you down or any thing like that, and I'm hoping that this blown adventure is not as optimistic as the last one.

well i approached different places for different things....like Discount Steel Supplies i asked for the steel for my roll cage......

and there is drag strips here in SA......they just arent 1/4 mile ones........but as the saying goes you have to run 1/8 mile to get to the 1/4 mile . lol

whyalla, coonawara, portland are the main ones, then mildura isnt far from me (about hour and a half) and then there is the big trek to Heathcote which will hopefully be happening later on in the year :D

have you ever been on the drag strip?

its more of a saftey thing than anything else. accidents do happen on the strip and it only take a split second for it too happen. what if i was to go up against a high hp car (and with the test and tunes you go up against anything) something happens and it slames into mine cause its crossed lanes? then what? i smash into the barrier or slam up against it, or flip the car even, anything can happen.

why take that risk?

and bozodos i go to all the meets at mildura so i know whats going on, and i am the mildura drag clubs photographer aswell.

and by putting the cage in now, it sets the car up for the future too, especially when im gonna have to eventually put in a 6 point cage....but starting off with a 4 point for now.

so dont lol at me please.

You could say the same thing about a good percentage of the cars that go there, cage free, i find it funny. That said, crashes are the most entertaining thing about drag racing

TBQH drag racing here bores the shit out of me, its nearly always just big block monaros, big block fords, vn shitboxes, R33 posers etc. Crappy facilities (no shade or anything), a corrugated dirt road out there, and a lack of any decent cars due to it only being a 1/8th.

well i know there are plans to hopefully get the whole dirt track bit laid with bitumen

and there are some quality cars out there, but i guess cause ive been out there so much i know what the better ones out there are lol

and crashes arent good when you know the person driving tho, trust me :P

there are lot of things planned for the strip all which will make it better :D

It might be more viable if they do it up with bitumen road, and get these abovementioned improvements to the track itself. I haven't been for ages, but the last "street" meet I was at was just Monaros, Capris, Cortinas, Kingswoods, etc.

The Operation Drag Right used to be a big hit with the bogans though, used to have them on friday nights, ironically before 'hoon laws' came in.

    • I left the ceramic coating off this bit, hopefully it just comes off after a few drives.   The gap between the spokes is too tight for anything on a stick, its only marginally bigger than my finger. I have to use a brush to get in there and its a big reason why I thought I'd try the coating.   Absolutely will do. I have EBC Blue Stuff pads to put on the front which will make them a bit dirtier. I'm hoping a pressure wash will just get most off. The shine is different to most, its very thin but seems very well 'attached' so hopefully it lasts.
    • Barrels don't need to be shiny clean. But they are certainly nicer when they are not polluted with years of brake dust, and worse the rotting corpses of the last 17 balance weight sticky pads scattered all around.
    • Yeah, type a special character like ^ or | to initiate the equivalent of the "at"ing for thread links. Although, it might not get any easier to manage. Imagine 30 or 40 threads that kinda match what you want, and the one you want is lost after a long list of useless ones. The magic keyword version I proposed would be a manual effort to set up each case. More of a directed effort from the greybeards to facilitate exposure of useful content. I'm not against the auto complete stuff being considered - maybe por que no los dos? (And where I said "triggered automatically" in my OP, I meant "triggered accidentally". Of course I want it to be automatic!!)
    • Ah yes, fair enough! I was purely thinking about cleaning the spokes and front of the wheel with the mitt. For the barrel the rag on a stick makes more sense. I've tried cleaning the barrels on mine and gave up in frustration. Between brakes being in the way or spokes being in the way and limited space to constantly move the car front and back it was just too annoying. The barrel being as shiny as the rest of the wheel sounds amazing though. At this point I'm not even sure if they have the same surface finish on mine. But I feel inspired now to find out.
