Hey all,

Well the 5 series from ati have been out for a few months now and with the shortage the 5800 series has gone up immensly!

To give you an example, went to PLE computers (WA) on Monday to buy a killer mouse pad and saw the 5850 for $399 was just about to buy it but i am off to America for my honeymoon in Feb so thought would wait till then.

Long story short couldnt wait any longer went back to PLE and ALL pc stores have had a massive price increase and now it is $500. (25 percent jump in 3 days!)

So i wanted some retail therapy and bought a 26 inch asus which i think is beautiful (2ms refresh rate and 2MP camera) my 22 inch i will either sell.... OR..... buy another with the gfx card (WHEN THEY FKN DROP THE PRICE!) and try eye finity!!

has any one got this setup as i would like to know does it make "game play" worse, what i mean is, i am sure it makes things look and feel more realistic BUT is it harder to shoot things.

For example on GTA IV if i saw a guy on the LHS screen and wanted to shoot him i would have to drag my rotation across a full screen to do so.... make sense? in which case i think actualy game play could be far harder.

Let me know if anyone is using it and post some imgaes and let me know what game play is like!

Cheers gang!

Cheers again Nismoid,

Hmmm can i still claim it under tax if it is purchased in the US? if so i might also have to grab me an i7 whilst I am there. Which means OF COURSE i wouldhave to ask you what would be a highly recommended mboard to go with the i7 for gaming. Asus rampage 2 has some good reviews for Oc'ing. Dam i hope i can claim it for tax (for work purposes of course:-) )

Oh so tempting, its meant to be for my honeymoon but i can tell (if i can claim it on tax) then this will turn into a PC shopping spree.

So anyone used eye finity yet that can also help me witht he game play viewing question?

Gigabyte UD5, best bang for the $$ paired with the i7 920 D0 IMO. You can go more expensive, cheaper, but i think personally GB have been on soilidly on ball since the EP45 series.

Just get the model that suits you (# of sata ports etc), as there are some variants.

EVGA making the best high end boards, but unless you are comp benching, not much benefit in the complexty of the EVGA Classified

It's a pretty big epeen extention though.

Enough power to power 2 i7s.

Yeah, you can claim the depreciation on it at the converted $AU price on date of purch. Also, for those running a business they can claim the investment allowance tax break for plant purchased overseas, provided they meet the basic criteria.

Ok yeah that makes sense, my accountant did say somethign at my least financial year return about 3 years worth of depreciation that i could claim on this pc i am using. Great so that is also the same for purchases in another country?? strange but GREAT! strange because it seems that our government will be re imbursing me for money that ihave spent and given taxes to over seas.

I dont have my own business however a lot of my work is completed at home during and after work which is why my accountant said i can claim it.

"Yes Mr Accountant, my new ATI radeon 5870 is purely for work purposes alongside the 26inch monitor and G19 keyboard helps me type work quicker and i can see it much better and clearer" eheheheeh!!

I manage three gyms, drive skylines used to manage night clubs.... but i am still the BIGGEST NERD at heart :-) getting excited about claiming hardware on tax and all.

GTAIV has really slowed down since i got the 26inch monitor and its still using the 9800GTX, cant wait till i head off to the US.
