Hey all.

In the process of buying a new car, considering buying the R34 variant suitable for a P plater. Not interested in modifying it or anything like that yet. Just wondering how you obtain parts and services, and are the costs excessive?

I can afford the car itself, just wanting to know how bad I will get rocked if something breaks or needs replacing.

All help is appreciated.

And be gentle. :)

Servicing? Alex, depending on what state you're in, I suppose servicing is really no more than other cars; but being enthusiasts that we are means that we prefer to use high quality oils wherever possible and premium fuel. If you hire someone to service your 'Line then in NSW, a mechanic who has the reputation for being familiar with our cars might charge under $100/hr; but that can vary.

Parts? Parts can be sourced usually without any problem through SAU's F/S section, Wanted To Buy section or our sponsors like Just Jap.

Plenty of other sources are available thru advertisers in magazines like Performance Imports etc

Buying a grey import doesn't carry much risk anymore (re: service & parts) - except the R35 & a few others. Getting a top conditon one (first up), is another matter. It pays to be careful there.
