Rear Mount / Mid Mount Turbo

My vote is still for a 32 rb25de.

You can modify the rest of the aspects of the car while you'r on your P's. Modify it for some weekend track/club day fun. That way you can learn how to drive, learn how effective each and every mod can be on the street and track:

Good set of wheels and tyres

33 gts-t brakes with reasonable street pads

Re-shim diff

Good set of coilovers

Nolothane bushings

Adjustable rear camber arms

Front castor rods

Rack ends

GTR seats

Oil pressure guage

Water temp guage

Boost guage (ha ha ha teasing)

1/2 cage (if it's legal in your state)

Tint

Good clutch

33 gtst gearbox

Radiator with internal oil cooler

Accusump

N/A engine mods, that can be used for forced induction too.

RB30 bottom end: Prepped crank, rods and forged pistons. With good bolts, ballanced and all cleances checked. Good oil pump, new timing belt and tensioner.

Head: Basic head re-build, clean up the ports, port match the intake and exhaust, shave the head and use a thin head gasket for more static compression... 10:1 ish ( use a thicker head gasket with boost).

Nistune in the stock ecu, then re-tune to suit. Even adapt a set of GTR throttle bodies and intake manifold if you get keen.

NA: Pod with a cold air intake, good set of extractors and a quiet 2.5" exhaust and play with the cam timing.

Modifing your car is fun and addictive... be warned! ha ha ha.

He is not joking! I am seriously addicted. Every pay day I just browse the damn internet for a new toy to buy. I considered getting my mate to block me from SAU for a month or so to see if it would weine me off my addiction but I couldn't even muster up the self control to let it happen.

Also I think it should be added that is not only fun and addictive BUST it is expensive AND can be stressfull.

Ah well fireworks are more fun when they are illegal anyways :) and you have a point, who doesnt love porn! Rumor has it that I MAY have gotten a big bunch of fireworks from NSW sent up to me in QLD. It would certainly be a lot of fun at a dunken camping trip.....if you were into that sort of thing.....

No dont buy a corolla..........if your going to get an old toyota atleast get a crown/cressida. OR buy a cheap non turbo gts4 :D and do a 26 conversion when you get on to your opens :) easy peasy. That is if you are really intent on buying a skyline now. Otherwise then yes I would drive a shitty old vl or something like that around and just get a gtr when im on my opens. But a corolla.........noooooo

AE86 FTW, good fun and good re sale, also cheap to run and it isnt a muzza vl that cops love so much.

If i'm to buy a toyota of that Era it would either be an AE86 or Celica TA22.

But then i may aswell keep the Fiat which isn't a bad idea anyway.

RB30 bottom end in a r32 would be fantastic but would require a Mod plate so there goes that Idea - a rear mount a turbo is easier to hide than the block number :D

So basically it comes down to an R32 GTS25 - Too bad all the ones i've found are Auto

Actually if you know the right people then putting the original engine number onto an rb30 block is WAYYYY easier than a rear mount turbo and MUCHHHH less detectable to average joe plod who pulls you over.

you're a P plater for 3yrs so you might as well get an n/a, its not worth taking the risk over 3yrs. which n/a? go straight for the company that is known to make the quickest n/a cars.... honda.

just dont join the honda forums, theyre a bunch of whinging little bitches who measure the size of their dicks with a micrometer.... as in they all stand next to each other and use the 1 micrometer to get a combined measurement.

Old school cars are great. I had a twin cam fast back celica, rx3 and 200B with a Z18 back in the day. All good fun little cars, but are a pain to drive daily, allways need work and don't have many modern features... not to mention a 32 would be a much safer car, better brakes, better suspension etc.

Old cars are still OLD cars, even if they are cool.

Be patient, a nice 32 gts25 manual will come up.

An rb30 block will be undetectable to most people. You can also re-number the block if your worried about it (easy to do). Or you can just leave it 25, ballance the bottomend, run 10.5:1 compression, set of re-ground cams and a re-tune. It should be nice and snappy with a good exhaust and intake.

Run a little nitrous on the track if you like too.... 75 shot on a hi-comp 25 would be fun!

LOL, My datto used to rape a worked civic often and other hondas and sprinters etc. all NA(and was quicker than a charged sprinter). its all about torque and gearing in NA cars....

go for any R32/33/34 with a factory RB25, and take weight out, and play with the diff ratio. Get the suspension perfect. Keep in mind even an air filter and exhaust is punishable for you.

I know some mechanics but don't know if they're able to do this, would you know any details of whats involved?

PM me if you want instead for law reason's

i'm researching RB30/25 engine combo's in the RB30 section on here but so far haven't read whether the head bolt's straight to the Block without drama's and whether RB30 block bolts straight into R32. i'm assuming RB20/25 sump will need to used or something but i don't even know if that will even fit nor if its even needed.

i'm just gonna buy the car first then worry about engine mods later

How about this..

You register a PO box in Tasmania and get mail redirected from said PO box back to your home address. You then get your banking address changed to said PO box. After you've got your P plates you head on down to old Tassy with a copy of your bank statement dated a month or so old and get your license changed over. You will now legally be able to drive turbo cars..

If you wanted to keep up the image you could even look at picking up a nice 32 gtst while you were down there, I think there is quite an abundance. This way it's registered in Tasmania with a roady you can take with you to Tas Roads (Whatever it's called down there :)) when you get your license done and change the rego over at the same time, and drive home with your hektic new car..

Have fun with insurance though, full comp was something like >2k a year about 5 years ago when I was 18 and living in Melbourne with my GTSt, I can only imagine what it is these days :(

Good plan... ha ha ha.

The other plus side of tas is that there is no annual check or road worthy certificates to worry about. You just register your car and that's pretty much it. I've never heard of a defect notice being given either, just tickets for illegal mods and bald tyres etc.

Cops dont really bother you about mods, but they will target you for trafic violations... plenty of cars have been impounded for bullsheet.

Combine the relative modification freedoms, cool average air temps (more hp!!) with some of the best driving roads in the world and an abundance of imports localy.... Tassie is great for owning an import.

Insurance is better in Tas too. Less average theft and accidents.
