Just wondering if anyone's put in any sound deadening stuff? Got a pretty pumping system but my zorst is just killing the sound! Am considering lining my doors, boot and roof with Dynamat, but to actually put it in seems to be a major hassle cos gotta remove a lot of panels... Has anyone used this? and what kinda diff does it actually make to road noise? sound quality of speakers??

i will be attempting to do my doors over this break ... it looks easy enough to do doors and the panel behind the back seat and the boot ... however to do the roof and even the floors is stretching it ... i'd do the easy ones first then do the hard ones ... so i'd only do the doors and the boot and the back seat if u were serious ... i think the other places are too hard to be bothered ... imho

i had six box's used in my car. boot lid, entire boot. as well as under neathe the dash(dash was removed) doors and under all the back and front seats. the back side pannels where removed and a shit load of other places. if we could eventually get to it we deadned it.

it sounds nice but in the end a sub is made to kill the car. :D and i sill have quite a few rattles but it outdoes most of the commonwhores that think there the shit. lol

deadening may be hard but it is worth it.

i'd go g-spot serenity + gspot serenity paint over dynamat. serentiy max costs about $100 for a large pack (enough to do 2 doors) compard to dynamat which is $200 for the equivalent. Dynamat is good stuff, but unless u've got $$ to spend, buy more serenity max and do it. how much do u want to spend? do the doors and the boot and that should be adequate, ofcourse u get better results deadening every panel ...but u should first figure out which panels r the ones making the noise. its just the doors r the noisiest cos thats where the speakers sit..and rattle it.

use the paint to get the hard to reach areas.

remember, theres lotsa deadening u can do urself aswell, ie. placing foam or things like that in crevices etc.

want better results? add another layer ontop of what u've done. so basically, spend time finding which panels need deadening.

yes it reduces road noise and other things aswell...since ur concerned about exhaust, i think u may have to do the floor..that'll be very expensive.

aiming for a system towards clarity. So far got: alpine 9815 deck, DLC176a front splits, spr 172b rears, earquake 12 db sub, alpine mrpt220 sub amp. Am pretty happy with this set up but am starting to notice a lot of interference noise - esp a subtle boom from behind the doors.

start with the deadner in the doors. you might notice a few loose things while you have the covers off. just give it the once over before you rap the doors.

other then that. it sounds like youve got your self a very nice setup.

    • Huh, wonder why it blew then. I never really beat on the car THAT hard lol I dailyed it and the turbo blew after 6 months
    • That's odd, it works fine here. Try loading it on a different device or browser? It's Jack Phillips JDM, a Skyline wrecker in Victoria. Not the cheapest, but I have found them helpful to find obscure parts in AU. https://jpjdm.com/shop/index.php
    • Yeah. I second all of the above. The only way to see that sort of voltage is if something is generating it as a side effect of being f**ked up. The other thing you could do would be to put a load onto that 30V terminal, something like a brakelamp globe. See if it pulls the voltage away comepletely or if some or all of it stays there while loaded. Will give you something of an idea about how much danger it could cause.
    • I would say, you've got one hell of an underlying issue there. You're saying, coils were fully unplugged, and the fuse to that circuit was unplugged, and you measured 30v? Either something is giving you some WILD EMI, and that's an induced voltage, OR something is managing to backfeed, AND that something has problems. It could be something like the ECU if it takes power from there, and also gets power from another source IF there's an internal issue in the ECU. The way to check would be pull that fuse, unplug the coils, and then probe the ECU pins. However it could be something else doing it. Additionally, if it is something wired in, and that something is pulsing, IE a PWM circuit and it's an inductive load and doesnt have proper flyback protection, that would also do it. A possibility would be if you have something like a PWM fuel pump, it might be giving flyback voltages (dangerous to stuff!). I'd put the circuit back into its "broken" state, confirm the weird voltage is back, and then one by one unplug devices until that voltage disappears. That's a quick way to find an associated device. Otherwise I'd need to look at the wiring diagrams, and then understand any electrical mods done.   But you really should not be seeing the above issue, and really, it's indicating something is failing, and possibly why the fuse blew to begin with.
