Picking up a 2nd hand Nismo 1.5way next Jan and would prefer to take my car directly to the specialist, rather have a middle man remove my diff, send it off, have the centres replaces, have it sent back, then re-installed and filled with oil.

I'd probably save $$$ dropping the car off.

What's roughly this gonna cost me for R33 GTS-T,

The Nismo is still inside an S15 diff housing and looks like it's done very little work.

Any recommendations please.

Cheers.

Thanks, I'll certainly get a quote in the new year.

Anyone know how much roughly it'll cost.

Again, I'll be dropping off my car along another diff housing containing the Nismo Pro for swap over.

Cheers.

Im removing the diff myself and taking it to Award to get the centres swapped and the new diff played with a bit to get it the way i want it.

$500 i was quoted.

I wasnt aware that Award did R&Rs aswell?

I dont see how you will save though as you will be paying Award to take it out and put it back in, whomever pulls it out will charge you.

this is the quote I got from them:

1. Cost to install Nismo centre supplied by you if you bring in the vehicle (drive in/out) would be $690.00. We would need the vehicle for 1 day.

2. Cost to install Nismo centre supplied by you if you bring in just the diff would be $525.00

3. Cost to install Nismo centre supplied by you if you bring in just the diff and supply all parts would be $250.00

Just as I thought.

My mechs estimate 1.5 -2 hrs to remove it, same again to install plus oil, plus freight both ways.

That'll be another $500 easy.

Beauty, drive in/out is the go.

Thanks for that. :)

Will I need new short shafts ?

I'm simply putting the Nismo centre straight into my GTS-T housing.

I was told the Nismo centre is the same for numerous model Nissans.

Cheers.

Just pray that the nismo centre is the old school type, because it will fit the stock half shalfs, if it's the newer type you will need Nismo specific half shalfs. I have a Nismo centre sitting at home waiting to be fitted next year when I got the time/money.

The previous owner assures me it uses the stock half shafts.

BUT in your case, if it doesn't work, you're kinda screwed, because S15 half shafts have a 3x2 bolt pattern.

Hmmm $690 is a pretty good price for drive in drive out (supplied)

I think id rather pay the $190 and leave the headache to them lol

Yeh mate, and then there's the warranty issue.

I want it all done by the one mech so the warranty stands uncomplicated.

No mate, I don't want the S15 ratio.

I'll be overtaking the Veyron.

Simple swap over from housing to housing.

Spoke to Award today, they mentioned my shafts MAY not fit due to possibility of incompatible length.

And they won't know until they open it up.

So it sounds like you're right.

Cheers.

    • Hey all, I'm sorry if this has been discussed before.  I have a 2008 Japanese import V36 coupe with nav but without Bose. I bought one of those AliExpress android screens, which for the most part works really well.  The only thing that doesn't work is the air con controls (well sort of) and the factory reverse camera.  The AC can be controlled fine but it doesn't report the change in temp and mode to the screen, and the volume knob/other audio controls from the panel don't register on the learning app.  I am pretty certain that the problem is the difference in the head unit between base model (Nav but no Bose) 2007-2009 coupes and anything after 2009.  Mine is the one with the blue connector all the way to the right as seen in this forum post:  The reason I think this is there is one wire left over that doesn't fit anywhere on this head unit, or in the factory screen which also uses different connectors to more recent versions.  I've seen the upgrade from OWC, and have sent the guy a message on eBay but no response yet.  I also don't particularly need the whole kit, just *maybe* an adapter for this one cable.  Did anyone else here have the same problem, or have any insight about what I can do to get this working?  I have been in contact with the seller but all they seem to be able to do is ask for more pictures and videos. Minor edit to add:  I have been researching and found a screen on Aliexpress that actually specifies my head unit in the listing, so these things do exist.  I will contact the seller to see if the wiring adapters are interchangeable with other screens.   Thanks in advance!
