I have a 260km nismo dash for my R32. Only problem is tacho doesnt work, other gauges seem to work ok. Looking at the circuit on the back, the plug behind the tacho doesnt seem to copy the same positions as the the standard dash circuit.

Does anyone know if there are different series of nismo dash depending on the year of the car, my car is from 89-90 so is the nismo dash for a later model r32?

Could I swap the gauge assemblies for each gauge out of the nismo set and put them inside the casing of the standard one, or would this not work out since the speedo may have a different mechanism to get to 260km?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Actually now that I think about, cant you buy the nismo gauges as just the assemblies without the casing and then you put it in your standard gauge casing. If this is true then would be able to swap just the assemblies. Has anyone done this or know how to do it? Does anyone know what I am going on about?

Look on the back of each cluster.. You should see a marking near one of the connector holes with TAM written..

On the old one I reckon it is on the left side connector (if you are looking at the circuit board) 3rd pin from the top on the rhs.. On the new one it may be middle connector 4th pin from the top lhs. Just chase the pin back and make sure it is in the right place. This is only what I had to do on my car.. gtst may be different.

This was the case with my '89 gts4 cluster replaced with a later gtr cluster. There were also a number of other things wrong as well, check all the idiot lights are working, indicator lights are correct, hicas still works etc.. I had to change quite a few pins over.

Yeah I see TAM on the old one, and TM on the nismo one but it is one pin lower. Looking at the other plugs the middle plug seems to have a few differences too.

How do u change the pin positions?

If you look at the connector, there is like a latch that holds the row of contacts in the housing.. unclip it and you can remove the pin and transfer the location. I'm going from memory here as it was a couple of years ago.. obvious when you have good look at it.

What is the original location for on the other dash? make sure that you aren't going to short anything out..

    • Thanks, plan is to drain all fluid tomorrow and do smoke test to find out the leak.   Appreciate your help and want to understand how the system work. So cooling is achieved by the long loop not any rad? The diagram seems to suggest it connects to somewhere inside the cabin and I thought that is a cooler inside firewall. If you look at the diagram it seems to show it connects to something inside firewall. I tried chasing it but not easy unless I take loads off   i am confident pump is good as fluid goes in and it gets soft( steering) but as soon as I turn engine off , loads of bubble come to surface and overflow. When engine is on , fluid level is below minimum but when off it shoots off and thinking it is sucking air in. I suspect aluminium pipe may have a crack line or whole   smoke test with no fluid should be a good start and if needed will remove the pump   In addition, the one going under the engine bay is high pressure line and one directly connecting from pump to resorvoir is return/ low pressure?   finally I searched and suggestion is to use dexron 2 but that is discontinued so bought dexron 3 as all research suggest it is compatible and shouldn’t cause any issues/ blow seals. I bought two liter of dexron 3 motul atf
    • Don't worry about. Just don't try to drive hard enough to make boost and you'll be fine.
    • Yes. This has already been said. It is a loop of hardline in front of the radiator. Because.... the pump is on the LHS and the steering rack hydraulic connections are where they always are on a RHD steering rack....on the RHS. The high pressure line goes down under the engine, along the crossmember, like it does on all Skylines. Don't just throw expensive braided hoses/other kits at it. Work out what is wrong and fix that.
    • Still got the afm on the intake, clamps are shut tight, only loose hose is the one that goes from the j pipe towards the IACV, since it's next to impossible to find a factory hose and the barbs are different sizes (I'm still using clamps on this hose to try and help it seal on the iacv side) I've ordered parts to make up the hotside of the intercooler pipes, I'll plumb it in and see what happens in a few days I suppose The turbo's internally gated, can I just unscrew the tension rod to let the gate open?
    • Did this ever go further ? Would love some updated info
