Hello all

I have just taken ownership of a 1999 stagea 260rs and it's great I love it.

I should have brought myself this present a long time ago hahaha.

I do have a few question if some would please help me out

1. Do the middle round lights at the front of the series 2 only come on as high beams ??

2. The fluid bottle in the rear right hand side boot ??? :)

3. sometimes when I drive it a HICAS light comes on I know its for the 4ws but where do I fill it, is it this bottle in the boot ??and what do I fill it with ??

4. where do you guys in Queensland service your Stagea's

5. Are heavy clutches harder to drive slowly my car seems to shake alot when I reverse or try to take off slowly is this normal??

It would be a great help if you guys could help me out on these things

Will there be a cruise in QLD sometime soon ??

Thanks

Mike

Look into a Jim Berry clutch, he can make something to suit your needs. There are many threads on him.

Bottle in the rear is ATTESSA fluid, check the level with the car idling, should be between min and max. there are threads on the best fluids etc

Just use a quality (synthetic) atf for the atttesa and the power steering.

Its possible you need to become accustomed to driving slowly without slipping the clutch (i.e. in or out) or its possible there's a fault - maybe find a local member to try it for you.

Congratulations on getting a 260 - you have a head start on us mere RS4T owners!

Thanks guys for the help

I had the neighbour have drive and he said its a heavy clutch and it could also so be a button.

I have never had a button clutch I just have to ride the clutch more he said

When the next QLD cruize Guys ??

It sounds like a button clutch of some sort.

That was my first thought also.

If its anything like mine, if you ride it at all (particulary noticeable in reverse) it will shudder and feel all round nasty.

Also if its a button clutch it will wear out quickly by riding it. Unless it is a mechanical fault, just play around until you find the sweet spot or if it really bothers you, put a new clutch higher on the priority list. (At least then you will know what you have).

Is the car standard? Have any pics?

Luke

I agree with Luke, riding a button clutch is worse for it. I bought my car with one installed by the previous owner, and the key is to ride it LESS. Give it a little bit more revs on take off, and ease it out a bit more quickly. If you get it right and get used to it, it shouldn't stall - there's enough torque in an RB25 or RB26 to get the car moving along without the engine dying.

I rode mine a few weeks ago trying to get a quick take off on a steep hill, and it shook the car so badly the CD jumped...

my new little r32 4dr RB26dett has a button clutch. I got used to it after the original take off when driving away, and no issue since.

my mate, however, rode it all the way on his drive around our local test circuit, muttering "shit", "sorry", "ah damn", etc every shudder he induced.

Hey mate yeah they are nice car's.

I do have a few question if some would please help me out

1. Do the middle round lights at the front of the series 2 only come on as high beams ?? Yep

2. The fluid bottle in the rear right hand side boot ??? :DAttessa fluid, can use PWR steer fluid

3. sometimes when I drive it a HICAS light comes on I know its for the 4ws but where do I fill it, is it this bottle in the boot ??and what do I fill it with ?? Its electronic, nothing to fill, may be damaged, mine had the plug smashed over when transported, just install a cancellor bar.

4. where do you guys in Queensland service your Stagea's mine was orriginally done at Gavin wood autotech on the goldcoast

5. Are heavy clutches harder to drive slowly my car seems to shake alot when I reverse or try to take off slowly is this normal?? Mine has a button and is a dog of a thing in the carpark, as mentioned a few more rev's and just drop it, slipping will make it shuidder and wear out quickly.

Yeah I had similar problems with mine. It came from Japan with some HKS triple plate clutch that was a pain in the a*s to drive.

Did some searching and ending up getting a single plate Nismo coppermix or something. AWESOME clutch!

My 260RS is now around 270kW and it handles the power easy. But best is city driving, I can sit in second and come to almost a standstill, and it don't stall.

Real easy on the foot too.

+1 for the Nismo Coppermix clutch.

Hey thanks for everyone's help

I'am starting to get the hang of the clutch. Its a bloody nice car

The last owner had it on the dyno, 330hp at the wheels but its heavy on the fuel but you can't have everything

I upload some pics tomorrow

330hp? No wonder you said it was fast! ...that's over 50% more power than James got in his new RS260 (a few posts down). Let us know what mods you have (that you can tell) when you post up the pics.

This is my baby
