hey there everyone, I am looking at purchasing an rb26dett for my gts4. The compression test on the one i am looking at is as follows.

1:165 2:171 3:171 4:169 5:165 6:166.

Does this appear to be a healthy engine? Anyones opinion is greatly appreciated.

Cheers :D

A comp test is a good indication on engine health, but by no means a guarantee. Who tested it? If you (or someone you trust) wern't there for the test, the numbers don't hold much sway.

They're good numbers either way.

un bolt a cam cover and have a look inside... if it's black and gunky, then it probably havn't been serviced regularly. Pull the intake plumbing off the turbo's and check the turbo's for shaft play (too much side to side and in and out movement). You could also have someone pull the sump off and check/replace the main bearings, check the bore etc.

While it's out, look seriously at a larger sump and a new oil pump at a minumum.... and if you are going to do any other mods, do them while the engine is out.

Most 26's are getting quite old now and most of then need atleast a freshen up... Look at it seriously.
