Hi all,

I am new to this forum and new to the world of Nissan's.

I am considering buying/importing either an R32 GTR or R33 GTR and was hoping to get some suggestions on the pro's and con's of each model as I have never driven either model.

It seems to me that the R32 is great value for money, i.e. you can pick up a car with quite a few mod's already done for around the 28-33k mark. However they do not look as comfortable interior wise?

The R33 seems to have a little more space and have a more comfortable interior however for the same price range you can pick up a pretty much stock car with maybe a couple minor mod's.

Any thoughts or guidance would be appreciated.

im inpartial to the 33. but also they are 5 years younger than the 32 . and have the better oil pump drive . and that the 33 was about 30 seconds faster around the nuremberg ring . first production car to crack 8 minutes . the 33 is roomier as the wheel base is 104 (or140) mm longer . and it weighs about 100 pound more than the 32

I love both, and was looking for a 97/98 Series 3 R33 when i stumbled across the 32 N1. Being an N1 it was a no brainer and i went with the 32.

Personally, I think the 33's look "classier" and a nice late model one with minimal mods looks stunning.

If your going to mod/rebuild engines, or buy one rebuilt then it should come down to simply what shape you like better. If you're going to keep it close to stock, a late model 33 can be almost 10 years newer than an early 32, so i would go the 33.

To sum up, I am of no help as i would take either one :-)

I know this is not the same but maybe worth looking at. He got the 33GTR at the end of the day.

Weigh your options and objection for the selection. Most people that have age as a concern will more than likely to get the 33 instead of 32. But having said that, when a good 32 comes up, dont let it go because of that. I would have gotten a series 3 GTR for the money I've got but saw this 1995 N1 which was too hard to refuse.

If you have huge plans and dont mind picking up other's mod, 32 does seem to be a good buy nowadays. With forged internals, mod transmission etc, they'll be more reliable than your stock 33s. But then again, the downside is still the interior (because you've mention it which means you mind).

Yeah still have the Foz.

Will be upgrading the brakes on it soon, slotted & drilled rotors and decent pads (EBC Greenstuff) and then a tune I think.

Foz will be the family car and the GT-R my toy!! LOL

Think I need to do more reseach and actually get out and look at a couple to see what I like/dislike about each model.

brakes were pathetic on my XT but still wish i had kept mine and modded it more

just had green stuffs like yours and some ENKEI's ....oh well never mind it paid for my GTR and the patrol :(

I was going to trade the XT in or swap to a GTR but its a great family car as it fits all of us in (me, wife, kid x1 and another on the way). So I'll keep it and buy another car.

My XT currently has: 3" XForce TBE, Hypertech CAI, MY05 STi TMIC, Alloy Y-Pipe, BOV and Samco silicon bits, 18 x 8 APEC Iniri Comp wheels, Pedders Sports Rider suspension, 22mm Whiteline RSB and Front strut brace.

+1 for keeping the Foz as well as acquiring the R33 GT-R for your garage.

I'd tend to budget for upgrading your GT-R than the Foz tho'; (despite the fact that putting new propellors/dump pipe on the Foz is a much easier task).

I'd be patient to find the right one - and then pounce!

I would say the R32... no offence to the R33 owners but i see R33's all the time on the road here in Newcastle (GTR or not), and would rather something not as common

Plus the lines of the R32 is beautiful :D

In the end its your choice, R33 GTR is newer suppose

I am starting to lean towards this option rather than "settle" because I am in a rush.

Also, those of you who have owned a Foz/Rex etc. how would you compare the AWD or them compared to the GTR's? I love the way the AWD puts power down and handles and have never driven a GTR so was just wondering how they compare?

You seem to have researched your XT upgrades really well. I presume you used the HD linkages with your W'line RSB?

Personally, I find that I can brake later and apply power earlier with the GT-R than the Subie > greater corner speed.

I like the way the predictability of how the GT-R handles is superb as the torque split engages AWD from RWD thru the twisties.

The Subie to me in a cornering maneouvre can tend to understeer at first with a noticeable weight shift mid-corner. Increasing front tyre pressure reduces this somewhat. I like the way the torque comes in low as one accelerates out of the corner tho' and can come out of a hairpin a bit better. The GT-R has just so much more balanced, sustained power through other types of curves (as you'll see for yourself).

If you can save up for the R34 GT-R then do it!

iv owned both, went from 32 to 33 and back to 32 gtr

the 33 feels big when driving and wasnt as nimble or as fun to drive as the 32

atessa system works a bit quicker in the 33 but who dosnt like a bit of sideways action

plus r32 gtr is the real godzilla
