Has anybody bought a set of JJR coilpacks within the last month or 2 for the rb25detneo. I have been searching everywwhere and it says they have them for this model but i cant find anything on justjap.com. I cant call them because they are on christmas break.

I heard that Just Jap have discontinued all of their red coil packs as they are rubbish.

Apparently Performance Wise will have some Yellow Jackets to suit the R34 GTT Neo very soon.

Send him a PM as he is a trader on SAU and he should be able to confirm.

Proof is in years of service in tough conditions. To show the part in lesser conditions will ride the wave and be super reliable (excluding factory random faults obviously).

Not something that does a couple of dyno runs on setups not a lot more stressful than factory.

Show me a few setups that have run circuit, 350rwkw+ for several seasons, or a street cars of equal power for 3 years in warm climates etc etc.

I call that proof. Why? Because that is what factory OEM coils and Splitfires can do, and have done for plenty of setups.

These others have not been proven in such a manner at this stage.

A couple of initial results with 6 months does not equal long lasting quality in my eyes unfortunately.

If i am going to by a copy/cheaper part - i like to know it will be long lasting. No point buying a cheaper part and having it die in 3 years now is there?

Ends up costing you more as you'd buy the better part the next time around.

So yes, at this stage, it is a gamble in my book.

Some valid points there. Ive had my Yellow Jackets in my R33 GTSt for around 18 months now and they run as sweet as the day I put them in.

Never have they skipped a beat under any of the situations Ive put them through and I havent been a easy on them either.

I know there's dozens of members on this forum running the Yellow Jackets in high HP situations and they couldn't recommend them more.

I guess its gonna take a few years yet for them to be worthy of the old die hard "Japan products are the shit" fans out there. And then that probably wont happen anyway....

Once upon a time people used to say that Japanese products were a lesser standard and not worthy of the $$ spent on them.

Some people just get set in their ways I guess. (Comes with old age.) JK :D

Hardly set in my ways :D

I'll have a certain product from China on my car shortly... also funnily enough one of the bigger names for XR6t's uses the same item and it's how i found out about them.

So open to new things - as long as they are tried and proven.

A few weeks ago I had ignition break down on boost and cleaned/inspected all the coils to find no arcing or cracking signs anywhere. These were the original 265,000k coils the car came with. Looked into my little bag of goodies under the stairs and lo and behold,the genuine 32,000k coils I had from my engine conversion when I put the last of the series 2 engines in it. These are literaly new with the silicone type goo they cover them in from the factory still present. So put them in and instantly noticed the difference. Idle was smoother, pickup was faster and boost is clean till the cutout at 7,300rpm. I don't know how long the old coils were slowly losing it but you can't beat brand new coils. Have to agree with Nismoid on this one, go with the Japs and for me, I see no need to deviate from the standard coils. Though having said that and wanting to try some sort of ignition boost just to satisfy my curiosity, I may go HKS. Having bought the car with 22,000 original k's in 2ooo I know it backwards and should be able to feel any difference.

Just get splitfire's like everyone else.

Tried, proven.

Why gamble?

so true , i used cheaper ones and never again .

i have splitfire's and couldn't be happier .

i know pple will say others have been proven etc but nothing beats splitfires, other than oem .

Totally agree mate.

If only Nissan did not charge $1200 or whatever it is for coilpacks - they would be the BEST option without question.

I've seen 60,000km old coils run out over 400rwkw for another 20,000km's, which for a factory part is excellent. Admittadly that is low KM's for 10yr+ old parts.

However at least you know there is solid reliability there. Never heard what happened after the 20K km's, but im assuming it was ok given 20K km's passed without sniff of issue :D

Problem is everyone compares replacement parts to stock parts that are flogged out and then call them brilliant.

A fair comparison of stock NEW vs aftermarket NEW i think over time would lead to some rather interesting results.

Also theres plenty of stories of Splitfire shitting themselves well before the warranty period expires. They arent the be all end all.

yeah that's true anything an break and stuff up .

no offense to any brands but the other brands have gave me nothing but trouble so i will stick to splitfires , i know oem are overpriced but if i could get them new cheap that would be my choice over anything else.

you can buy cheaper and "coming out of same factory as expensive ones" but will never be same

so what is the product that will soon be going on your car that was made in china. i only ask as i have a 400rwkw xr6t ute and im struggling to think what you could be talking about

There was probly a time when Splitfires were released, that the exact same conversation was being had.

A bunch of people had to take a gamble on a new product.

Im glad there are people out there still trying to support other products. It just takes time for them to prove themselves.

Ill give Yellow Jackets a go when i need them for sure.

Thread revival for an update on JJR coil packs...

Went OK for the first 2 years (10000kms) now failing badly and will be replaced with Splitfires. I only wish I had spent my hard-earned $$ on Splitfires in the first place.

Lesson learnt :/
