I went into super-cheap and their catalogue said QM1 paint is 'polar white'.

So I bought a can and painted my stealth lip with it but it looks too cream-like in colour. The white on my car is more brilliant like a little blue.

Anywhere you can buy jap spec QM1 in a can in Perth?

You didn't think shit in a spray can would match aged factory, 2 pak paint, did you? and you're not looking for "jap spec" or "JDM" paint - get a professional to match the color...they seem to be good at that kind of thing.

I was hoping for a close match allowing for some ageing, but this is defo a different colour. The colour/tone of my paint on the outside is not noticably different from inside the doors etc - where minimal UV light is recieved - anyway, so I don't think it is just because of 'ageing'.

I read somewhere that JDM spec QM1 is different than Oz spec QM1 which seems farking idiotic.

I was looking to avoid paying a pro to paint the thing. I'm a DIY kind of guy.

Paint codes are paint codes buddy, the same color code will vary depending on manufacturer and how old it is.

Its still best to pay a pro man, acrylic paint won't last long on your bumper. It'll naturally just start cracking and peeling off after a year or so...and it has basically no resistance to chips, scratches, etc.

I'll probably go down to Protec.

Do Protec sell to the public?

Looking at their website it looks like they're a distributor that will tell you to go to a shop that sells their products. They'll probably give you all the advise in the world though...which is - do something once, do it properly - use 2 pak :D

I used to use a colour matching company called colourtech. google it.

Located in perth and a mobile service. I use to have the super red pearl coloured 33 (1ANO) and was always a bitch to match but those guys (one of em was called Tony Stalker and DEFINATELY RECOMMENDED!) used to get it right every time, was good enough for the shows the car used to go in and would come up perfect!
