I have 2 of them, I would get the car tuned up here as the mapping will be out for the hotter climate (unless its done in Bris around Chrissie - cause its fcuking hot there too).

will be driving from Brisbane to Darwin in 2 weeks , any advice for a long ass drive in the NT ?

Just did trip from sydney darwin only hints are

Dont travel on Qld roads after dusk due to bloody big skippys

Try to do Barkley Hwy in the cool of the day

Most importantly enjoy the roads in the Territory with open speed limits and far better conditions than Qld & NSW. And dont speed through the towns on the Hwy as it is easy revenue raising.

Take lots of CDs

Its the wet season, I would try to run up the centre. The road out of Mt Isa is an absolute shocker. Avoid at all costs this time of year.

Oh yeah, take heaps of CDs and give us yell when you arrive.

    • Stock ECU has compensation, you won't damage the engine. Personally I recommend getting an acceptable catalytic converter, it doesn't need to be OEM and super expensive but a cheap universal one to keep it from being super obnoxious to be around. Decatted cars smell pretty awful.
    • Correction. Ignition was on before, but I guess the car had to be running for it to work.
    • The stock ECU won't care. The gains from Nistuning the ECU and then "optimising" the fuel and ignition tables will be about 2 more HP.
    • Appreciate the feedback. It is street car, but not a daily. Last week I got a quote from a good exhaust shop for a decat, one which is bolt-on, bolt-off to be easily replaceable. I got quoted for around €150. I usually do push the motor, but I wasn't in this case to make sure that no damage is done until I get the cat sorted. I think it's best to also ask the exhaust shop for the other option and see what they can do. If (big if) I were to decat though, would it be best to tune the car or would the stock ECU handle it? As far as I know, the stock ECU is not tunable and that would require additional purchases.
    • As above, definitely bash it or get it replaced with a high flow unit.
