about a month or 2 ago between Chermside and Aspley, I spotted a small metal box sitting in the centre traffic island.

It was fixed to the ground (approx 50 x 50cm x ??) and seem to have some type of camera & flash mounted in it.

also looked like it was attached to those rubber traffic counter strips running across the road.

anyone else seen what I'm talking about?

hope like hell they aren't a new type of speed camera. they could hide them almost anywhere.

They are indeed the new speed cameras.

No their not...

They had them on all major arterial roads out of Brisbane.

Their simply traffic monitoring cameras, it was in the local "North side chronicle" paper a few months back.

They were set up on sandgate road, gympie road & old northern road.

Also a bunch of back streets to monitor how many people used urban streets to take short cuts.

They were only up for 3-4 days and were very basiclly secured to sign posts.

The one on Linkfield road near bunnings Carseldine was stolen hence the story in the paper calling for it to be returned.

The new fixed speed cameras look very similar to the old ones, just a tad bit smaller. Check out the one on the gateway just before the Nudgee turnoff heading southbound. Its about to go active in the next week. Just need the lines on the road to be painted and its up and running. Just another one to add to the dozens of mobile units out there to take your money...

Im still surprised no one had gone out with a petrol powered grinder and just cut a speed camera down...

Or thrown paint all over the road where the lines are...

Or spray painted the lens...

Or gone postal... :D

I don't know about here in Australia but in the UK they've given them a hard time:

XF vs Speed camera?

I bet the XF would win...

    • hahaha @joshuaho96 the most action it gets is when I have to drive from West to SE VIC to meet the fam. Even then, it;s on highway cruising speeds
    • don't know anyone in this thread, but i just found it, read the entire thing in a few hours, realized greg is still posting progress, and just have to say, this is awesome. it looks awesome. 100% right about the Uras kit making it a pain to get on hoists...have the same kit on my 34 and it takes six 2x4s and race ramps to do it without taking parts off. this reminds me exactly of this thread. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/build-projects-and-project-cars/r63-amg-the-unicorn-of-my-destruction/110824/page8/
    • The only way to make that better is to weld on some bozozoku tips up past window height and roll with the cool kids.
    • I'd want an even MORE side on view. More or less you want to make sure the outlet is actually square with the outermost part of the bumper. Or you end up getting soot all over your bumper from your hektik exhaust. In any case, it looks pretty close. I think the way to fix this is probably more of an overhaul at an exhaust specialty shop if you want tips that are rounded off or sit nicely with the bumper but have proper clearance and don't move - Probably more of a redesign than a quick fix. I've pencilled in my own exhaust with its own various problems, pinholes, PITA fitment, and other issues and can see myself going to a shop and saying "JUST DO THIS BUT BETTER?"  Which is gonna work better than any more small fixes. I'm gonna chime in here officially with "from an outsider perspective this exhaust looks fine so this is self OCD probably" (which I also suffer from)
