Hey guys,

Was out for a drive last night on a cruise, taking it easy. At one of the meet points, Ken34 and my cousine noticed that I had fluids leaking from the front of my car. At further inspection this proved itself to be coolant.

I drove it home cautiously, monitoring the water temp on the power FC controller, and didn't go above 85c at all. This morning I come out to have a look and see whats what, notice that the radiator is about half empty and so I start looking around.

I filled the radiator up with water (just to test, going to flush again later) and turned the motor over. Didn't take more than about 10 seconds and already the leak was apparent. Looks like it's coming from the water pump on the block. Now I'm not sure if it's one of the bolts (can't see) or if it's coming from the seal and leaking through the hole (which means it's stuffed, obviously). Not sure what to do here as I had her at Xspeed a few weeks ago and they did a full timing belt service on it for me, replacing the water pump at the same time. Is there any way I can stop the leaking for the time being or will I have to take it back to them sometime to get this resolved? Also, what are my rights in this situation being that the water pump is brand new?

How far from XSpeed are you?

Tighten the bolts as much as you can, and drive it with a few 1litre bottles of water with you and stop at service stations if you need to.

I dropped 80% of my water in Ozzy Park at the freeway on ramp, topped up, limped it home to Swan View and fixed it, wasn't too hard, just avoid stop/start traffic and main roads, if you do have to stop, you want to do it in a back road.

Cheers Nic. I live in Palmyra, literally 5 mins up the road from Xspeed, so I don't think that overheating on the way there is going to be an issue hehe. Last night, I managed to drive from the meet point we were at, car park off selby st Osborne Park, back to my cousines place in Belmont. Then from there to my house in Palmyra, all without the water temp going over 85c. However this morning the water had drained to about half capacity in the radiator itself. I'll be able to get it there ok.

Nah the guys at Xspeed are a good bunch. Hansons a great guy to talk to, knows his stuff.

Fairly sure it would be the gasket/seal between the water pump and the block itself. I'd rather just have the fellas do it however so as not to void any warranty or anything by doing it myself hehe. I was going to throw some fiberglass sealant stuff through the system today and hope it sealed the leak but decided against it as not sure how it'd affect warranty or anything.

yes, kenr34 is an awesome guy

Haha.. This is the guy who noticed it was coolant ;) Mr. oz, I just gave him a rag to wipe his filthy hands before he got into my car!

We all thought it was oil at first haha I think your heart skipped a few beats.

Good to hear everything worked out ok. Was good meeting you on the cruise mate, we should cruise again once everything is sorted.

Peace,

Ken
