Hey guys

im in melbourne

does anyone know someone who can come to my place and replace the studs in the head which the exhaust manifold would bolt into?

i think i have an exhaust leak here...

also, any idea how much a new manifold> head gasket would cost? genuine from nissan?

can i just go into nissan parts dealership and ask them for this part or do i need a part number?

thanks

You can grab one from a Nissan dealer. the genuine one is probably the best one to use but I have a spare aftermarket one sitting here doing nothing from a VRS kit that you can have cheap if you're keen.

You should be able to just ask for one from Nissan parts.

Yeah engine.

RB gaskets are $90odd from nissan

SR gaskets have a couple of types from $30-90odd.

Just give Nissan your VIN and they will find the parts quicker.

You will most likely break at least 3 studs in the head if its an RB when you try to remove them. Then you need the thread remover man to come round and remove them.

Dont forget to have the manifold faced otherwise it will leak again.

Have a workshop do it?

thanks for the help guys

femno, any idea how much it costs to have the manifold faced? and where to get this done?

also, any idea where i can get braided oil and water lines from for my turbo?

thanks

Nissan gasket for manifold > head was 125

Nissan gasket from turbo > manifold was 45

i think i have the same problem.. when i got my car the mechanic at the pre purchase check said i have a exhaust gasket leak and 2 bolts missing where the dump and turbo connect.

is it alright to drive it like how it is now as a daily while i save up for it?

It's ok yes, certainly do not want to leave it very long though mate.

It will get worse. Car will sound like a tractor and you'll have black soot all over the place if it gets to big

Also the other issue is once they start failing, the others generally aren't to far away with the added stress that failing bolts cause on everything over time.

You might find others have also come close to cracking and are vitually just sitting there (they will break off when the manfold is removed)

I would not use the Nissan gasket theres better out there for far less imho and i would also change the turbo to manifold gasket at the same time again theres better out there for far less and also the copper washer/gasket that are needed for the oil and water for the turbo 2 each it will just leak if you re uses it 9 times out of ten

I brought the entire kit thats 12 bolts washers yokes studs (gaskets three number), turbo to manifold, manifold, and exhaust down pipe gasket and 3 studs and at least 4 copper gaskets for less then $250

Click the link below in my sig "snapped manifold stud DIY removal" i done mine myself never done anything like it before and no a few people that have followed it and it also worked for them too

Most places where I come from will not touch it or your looking at $1500 plus to have done

IF I COULD DO IT TRUST ME ANYONE CAN!!!!!
