Hey guys done a quick search and couldn't find what i was after.

Basically I'm deciding whether to mount my bosch 044 fuel pump in-tank and external with a surge tank for my rb25de+t. The main plan was to mount it in tank but after doing a little more research i am heading towards the direction of mounting it externally.

Basically what are your ideas on this?

As for mounting the fuel pump externally what do i use to push the fuel to the surge tank? Can i use a standard fuel pump or do i have to get a special lift pump?

And how do most people mount the surge tanks? Weld on a bracket and bolt them in?

Thanks in advance for any help

had external set up in my r33 gtst..

i used a factory gtr pump as a lift pump to the surge tank, and an external bosch pump from the surge tank.

i screwed the surge tank and pump in a bracket to a piece of aluminium, then screwed that to the floor of the boot. i also screwed an L shape bracket to the alumiunium to mount the relay for the pump.

the relay just wires in to the pump signal, so when the original pump is on, it switched the relay and the bosch one runs aswell.. i had it running straight battery voltage and had an inline fuse just in case.

its good insurance against leaning out, knowing that it can support 300kw, means it wouldnt be breaking a sweat at normal levels... its a quality part, that is brand new and reliable.

plus it makes a kick ass noise when its external.

Use an 040 if you want to run intank.

For an 044 use a low pressure lifter pump like a Carter gold and a small surge tank 2.5lt, you can mount it underneath the car so you don't get that horrible whine from your boot as well.
