Hi,

I think my 1JZ needs rebuild?

2day i pulled all the plugs on my toyota and noticed when removing the plug for cylinder 2 (2nd from the back) it had a coat of engine oil on it So it seems things just keep getting better.

I am going to do a compression test to check all cylinders properly but at this stage looks like i'm up for a rebuild.

I am leaning towards waiting till i can afford a set of forged pistons and rods etc.... does anyone think i should bother or just replace the rings as long as the rest of the internals are fine.

Or could it just be a valve stem seal. It doesn't use much oil and only blows black smoke. Also is there anyway to tell whether it would be valve seal or piston ring?

THanks everyone

Jamie
