The latest issue of NZ Performance Car features a 260kw M35. I'll try to scan the article tomorrow if I get time but the guts is this:

Started with a 2wd VQ30DE. Computer is Link G4 (wire in ViPec). Gearbox is Toyota R154 5 speed with custom bellhousing, 4 puck clutch, custom driveshaft 350Z diff, Bilstein shocks, Tein springs, 300ZX brakes front and rear, Work 18x9 front and 18x10 rears (widened rear guards), only started on the engine - Masterpower turbo @16psi.

As my local RB guru likes to say "anything's possible if you have the inclination and the money".

Sorry mate but the supra 6 speed is a GETRAG v160 or v161 for later models. Very strong box. Can handle 1000hp +

I am a supra nut with a 600hp supra with a broken v160. I have a v160 dog box ready to go in.

Expect to pay $3500 - $4000 for used one

M35s are cheap as chips in the North island and this one isnt bad. Kiwis know how to build tuff cars overall. I have been to Nelson speedway for the grand nats-best night ever apart from the no alcohol rule! I visit the south quite often with me wifey as we have friends and reletives in Nelson and Dunedin.

Why did they not use a manual from the V35/ VQ series parts 350z, skylinr GT etc?

I am tryn to build a S1 around the likes of Tangles and your car, with a bit better styln. :)

I reckon you did it a bit cheaper, but Tangles went all out. If you are chasing more power then you better open up the guts and forge that motor soon.

I want to ask you some advice, I know you wrote off your first stag as I did! Is it really worth while building such a monster with a Series 1 or opt out of the endless money pit of the C34 and just go for a M35?

I have to make a decision soonish the house is on the market, but I bought my second stag at $12 000 with 85ks on it with insurance, and have spent on the cheap ($9700) with half decent new and used JDM parts. Most are on the car but I still have to put more in with a mate thats a decent mechanic and get a tune on the dyno. I might also part out my car and gain money back.

If I bypass the whole pipe dream of stroke a 25 or 26 with one big turbo or go down the RB30 path, I think I will save in the longrun-money doesnt grow on trees, so the mrs keeps sayn. By the way I have owned a VL berlina turbo, 400 hp rwd and quite scary in the wet, but it was not built by me. Fun factor +10.

I think the unpopularity factor (cheap) and purchasing an M35 gets me one step closer to the Nagoya Auto Trend 2009 Stagea.

I will definately build one of these over a 10 year period-it'll keep me happy and busy.

If it helps with your decision, I can tell you that after a lot of chasing, emailing and phone calls that the Kids Heart R35 conversion for M35 Stagea shown at the Nagoya show is a one off and no kit is available.... as yet

They used the actual front end of an R35 (no FRP) and molded their own skirts/rear.

Unfortunately it is only intended as a show car for advertising purposes only.

RB30 is the simple answer (I'll be putting a GT3540 with 6boost manifold etc)- stock 350 -400kw with massive low down torque or forged the sky's the limit. M35 is a more modern car but you have to look harder or make the bits - go for it if you like a challenge!

My bad getrag that's right, very similar to the R34 GTR

And back on the subject. Getrag is right. Borg Warner and hollinger are good aswell.

Supra 6 speed boxes are reknowned for toughness and reliability with drag apllications.

My question is why did they not use a later V35 nissan box, I have heard the tiptronics are difficult to service and expensive to fix from the M35 boys-maybe why?

huh? How so?

Very easy to service. Fixing? Dunno, only one that really needed fixing that I know of was Scott's.... and he went for a full rebuild.

Are you confusing the V35/Z33/M35 5-speed tiptronic with the V35 CVT 8-speed?

Yeah thats the one. Very confused with th V35 series. What type is used in the manual in the above pics?

As time goes on the M35 is becoming older and more obtainable.

I reckon masa motorsport or dolphin will have to obide by the ever growing customer wants.

I have good contacts with them and might ask what is the go.

I am quite biased because I have never wanted to own a skyline apart from a four door. There is one in WA with a 26 in it up for grabs that I am test driving 2moz, cheap as $13 000. RS4S are just too expensive in WA.

It might sway me to the dark side.

Although I think a R35 is probably unlikely for me, I might be able to afford a front cut in the near future.

6-speed manual.... Those pics look to be from the PM35 Axis S which is a 3.5L RWD Stagea (2006-2007) going by the seats.

It is also used in the Z33 350z and the V35 Skyline.... unfortunately that 6-speed is for RWD only.
