Hey guys, thought i might post up my new car! Its a 1997 GTR V-spec. I've had it for just over a month now. Bought it off another forum member in Sydney.

I've always loved skylines and wanted one for the last 10 years (a long long wait, been reading this forum/site since 2005). I originally looked at getting a R33 series 1 (many years ago), time passed then i thought a R33 S2, then i went overseas for 2 years came back and I thought R34 GT-T, so I started to look around and by accident I ended up test driving a R33 GTR. From then on I thought I have to get a GTR. It felt so much better in everyway. Power delivery, handling etc etc, and it felt special.

So anyway I finally found exactly what i wanted, a R33 S3 GTR in black with all the mods i wanted to do. So it has 18 inch GTCs, Garrett -5s, Power FC, Nismo - injectors, fuel pump, oil pump, water pump, fuel pressure regulator and sport clutch, apexi pods, exhaust, Greddy Boost controller and plenty of preventative maintanence work done, got dyno'd at 290rwkw by the previous owner. I'll probably keep it this way for a while, maybe take it to Racepace and see what they think. I know the -5s turbos can be wound up more than what they are on atm (0.9 bar low & 1.2 bar high) but the bottom end is stock so that is maybe the next thing i'll do. For now i'm more than happy with it and very happy to be finally driving around in a skyline!

Cheers.

Oh yeah sorry about the pic quality, iphone is no DSLR.

Thanks guys for all you comments! Yes one of the first things I thought when I saw the car was it needs to be lowered. The stock suspension sits pretty high. Might source out some king springs for the moment till I get the some funds for the coil overs. Another mod I'm thinking to do would be to make the exhaust from turbo back. At the moment it's only cat back and the stock exhaust rattles a bit at low revs, gets kinda annoying plus performace might benefit a bit. I haven't seen how a 6000k hid package looks. Might have to do a search for some pics.

There seemed to be a bit of interest with the car when it was up for sale, which is one of the reasons why I snapped it up soon after looking at it. Figured no point loosing the exact car I wanted by haggling over a grand or two. I'll post a few more pics up after I've cleaned it today.

Cheers.

Yep get a set of 6000k HID's off of Dave. One of the best mods i've ever done, makes night time driving fantastic and havn't ever had any dramas with them.

The picture doesn't do them justice (my old camera), but you get the idea.

congrats mate,

would have snapped this up instantly even though im qld, but i already have a r33 gtr hehe, i wish this was for sale back when i was in the market for mine ;)

keep it in once peice mate :) , and dont bother with springs, keep stock suspension until you have the money for coilovers, just live with the height for a while like i did :)

honestly springs on a GTR ruin it, coilovers or nothing

Why would he bother with a HID kit when the car has factory Xenon's??

They are much brighter (and whiter) than the standard headlights fitted to GTST's and earlier model R33 GTR's.

I say don't waste the money and go for some lowered springs instead.

Oh, by the way, NICE CAR!!!

Hey guys, here are some more photos I took this afternoon after a scrub and some other random ones i have taken since I've had it.

Yeap its already got factory Xenons, thought some of you were suggesting to change the Xenons to a different colour. I'll definately leave it i'm happy with it as is, might consider changing the high beam but i'm not too fussed for now. Suspension and turbo back exhaust & Racepace retune are the main priorities for now

Anyway, thanks everyone for all the positive feedback!

I know they have factory HID's, but from the first pic it did still look pretty yellow. Judging from the new above pics it doesn't look that bad so maybe it was just the way the first pic turned out. What kelvin are the factory ones?

    • Yes...but look at the numbers. There is a tiny tiny fraction of the number of Joules available, compared to what is used/needed. Just because things are "possible" doesn't make them meaningful.
    • Thanks for taking the time to post that ! If anything changes or happens please do update us.
    • Somehow Vertimass/Oak Ridge National Labs has figured out a catalyst that can convert ethanol into C9-C10 hydrocarbons in basically a single step without ending up with a bunch of ethylene or similar waste products: https://patents.google.com/patent/WO2023224867A1/en I still don't think anything like this will keep us from needing to transition to EVs regardless along with all kinds of other electrification, but things like this will go a long way towards alleviating the problem of how to electrify things like planes. Renewable diesel is seemingly an easier problem as well, Chevron is already running refineries for the stuff and the primary feedstock is tallow and other waste fats from agriculture.
    • Ok so I have sorted everything with my uniclutch and  i can offer up a bit of feedback and some things that might help others.    I found problems with factory damper line. Weird shit and had trouble with peddle adjustment    I used this https://au.gktech.com/products/r33-gts-t-skyline-braided-clutch-line?_pos=2&_sid=22b01b9b9&_ss=r Also when adjusting peddle leave a bit of play. You can get into a over stroke condition easy.. Make sure you can push the slave forward after adjusting to confirm fluid can return to master then you will need to pump it up heaps…..not sure why but that’s how it is.    last thing the splined adapter is machined perfectly. If your input shaft is old like mine was I would put a bit of valve grinding paste on it and stroke it like a 15 year old. Just to give it a tad more clearance and to better match it to the spline.    reason is on a near flat shift I have had situation where the peddle returns a millisecond after you lift from the clutch. No slip or anything but I reckon this is due to tolerance on the spline being way tighter than stock clutch and binding for a sec. I think this will go away but also my spline was old. Box is old so I guess I should have checked better. It’s a super neat fit.    it feels light as and holds awesome without any noise
