Hey all

This will be every detail leading up to this crap situation.

First the car has a mongoose mx40 alarm in it with a window lifter kit along side it.

The window lifter module WAS in the drivers door but came off its mount and got jammed in the scissor mechanism of the window. This created the first problem of ruining it and stopping the passanger window from operating.

To remedy that situation i have removed the module and wired up the windows as they originally were. The windows now work fine along with everything else in the car except the engine wont turn over with the key.

All red lights come on at the ignition position but when the key is turned to start an extra light comes on, the exhaust temp warning light. I cant remember if this is normal or not. The exhaust isnt hot so that cant be the problem anyway.

My driveway is a downward slope so i can clutch start out no worries and the car runs perfectly until i turn it off. I can still arm the alarm which will lock the car etc. All normal.

I'm lost, I've checked every fuse, every relay i know of and nothing.

Ive even tried to incorporate the window lifter modules power and ground wires back into the alarm to see if that circuit needs to be complete, but to no avail.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Yeah was definately a backyard jobby. I'm thinkin my only way out is as you suggested. Twist and tape isnt the way the car gods intended. I could do a better job in my sleep.

I have a full day ahead of me. Beyond me which fuse blew but startin from scratch will help me find it.

Thanks man.

Ok after unravelling about 400km of electrical tape i found a plug undone right near the alarm module. It must never have been connected very well because the wires i was removing for the window lifter kit were no where near it.

Dodgy, ive now gone over all the connections again and its 100% better than before.

Yeah it runs. Strange that everything in the car worked including the alarm but the one plug to not be securely connected in the alarm loom was ignition releated. Just one of those things.

Lucky.

I agree with Chris on this one, window closer modules in doors are done by lazy installers.

Do your red's stay on while cranking?

Can you here the fuel pump prime?

Is your starter solonoid sticky?

Can you here the starter relay clicking?

Check all fuses and fusable links.
