^ Yeah, I have heard stylyn are pretty good (never used them myself though).

Sage, why not DIY and save yourself a couple hundred?

Most of the instructions are on the g35ipod.com site and since you have the RS setup, a single DIN head unit changeover should be pretty easy.

yeah thinking about doing it myself.. though i can only find instructions that talk about removing the double din units not a single like mine.. do i need to remove the entire centre console as per the g35ipod site? if so would prob take me half a day.. i am happy to pay someone $100-150 to do it for me..

I also need them to run power and RCA to headphones up to where the factory TV unit sits for my android tablet.

yes it did. it was sold and the new owner did not have the funds to operate it.

if you are at moorabbin see tower on warrigul rd if you are NE then see stylyn boronia and adam will sort the lot for you.

jesus! i should have gone to a pro! tried to do this myself yesterday! though of course i run the aftermarket carrozeria unit with of course plugs into a big HDD, SatNav unit.. which plugs into a TV Tuner under the passenger seat which plugs into more shit in the rear quarter!

well it all came out yesterday! what a mission! my car is a complete mess we have cut and removed a lot of shit and the new one is now wired in though ive still gotta put it all back together again! took about 5 hours yesterday and ive still got another couple today..

though on the plus side have also hard wired power and sound for my android tablet which will go in in the near future..

some pics below:

haha yeah she is all back and everything works (phew) i was a bit worried after how much we cut out..

tho one thing still aint right.. for some reason i cant work out the button on the gear shift doesnt work anymore (the one you press in on the side of the knob to change gears).

i could have sworn there was nothing to it.. you put it on and thats it.. though when i put it on now the button on the side doesnt seem to engage anymore..

Is there anything that goes into the knob before you put it on the gear shifter? Thats all i can think of that could be wrong.

Little help would be great.

found it! it has like a pen lid thing that sits atop of the gear shifter.. must have fallen out of the knob when i removed it.. was under the centre console.. lucky.. i even went back to the service manual which didnt even show the part!

So all done! my only problem is i dont receieve AM very well.. always got static in the background :( though not the end of the world.

Thanks for your help guys.

    • I’m doing some side developments on SR20det S13 engines, its one my hobby cars used it to compare flow capacity of some smaller size wheels. SR20det is one of another JDM legendary engines I'm sure there are plenty of SR enthusiasts on this forum, I will share results some common turbo configurations here. a quick run down of what the car is: Wide body 180sx Type X with black top engine (blue). It has: Stock bottom end Haltech 1500 ECU 5-0 motorsports trigger kit Kelford SR20DET Beehive Spring with Titanium Retainers Kelford Cams SR20DET S13 188-B 268/272 Cams G25-660 Turbocharger in T2 .64 rear housing internally gated ARP Head studs MLS head gasket 1000CC ID injectors Walbro 450L Fuel pump Front mount cooler kit JJR’s 3 inches turbo back exhaust (its too short for the 180sx it had to be extended) Pump 98 fuel Hub Dyno tune So far made 270rwkws at 22psi full boost by 4500RPM. Engine is very knock limited hence a pretty bad looking top end. From previous experiences it seems like SR20dets are happier with bigger size turbine, some thing like a GT30 would make way better top end, but on same time response is lost. It won't be a problem with S15 VCT engines. I'll be testing alternative turbine housing, turbine wheel and possibly dump pipe options for extra flow to resolve the problem and of course E85 would resolve all the issues.
    • Awesome writeup and details. Thanks for sharing the story so far. I can relate to parts of it with my previous car and some of the issues I had to deal with.
    • Wow the colour matched hard top completely transforms the car. Are there any nice front lip options for the car or is that off the table?
    • Generally yes but for some reason I've been ruthless this time around!  I might even need to do another tip run after the way I've finally been able to hit the delete button on shit I've stepped over, stepped around and tripped over for the past 10 years!
