R32 Remove Lower Control Arms

Hey Everyone,

I'm having a hard time removing my drivers side lower control arm. I cant get the ball joint off the hub.

I've given it the biggest beating i can. Do i need to use a ball joint splitter ?

What are you hitting? undo the nut and leave it up the thread a little, Get a hammer (not a rubber mallet) and give the SIDE of the metal (the piece of the hub that has the hole in it for the lower control arm bolt to go thorugh) a big bash, not the ball joint and not the thread bu the actual side of the metal hub.

FYI. Splitter is about $40 in Supercheap Auto (Vic).

If it isn't coming loose after bashing it try spraying some wd40 on it and letting it sit for a while to penetrate then give it another few hard whacks. Failing that you will have to get a ball joint splitting tool.
