hey guys ive got a rb26 forged pistons no head work and supporting mods. ive got hks gtss turbos at the moment but im after a single turbo set up but i want it to be responsive im only after 400-450rwhp on 17 18 psi just wondering what single turbo set up what be best suited?

also if anyone or you know anyone thats willing to swap for complete low mount set up (hks gtss turbos, hks dump pipes ect...)plus some cash there way

why do you want to change the turbo setup when what you have now is capable of the power figure you are after?

my choice is usually a single for that level, generally more area under the curve.

You reckon?

GT-SS's are already on @ 3300rpm in my car.

I'd be surprised if a single is going to be much better :thumbsup:

definatley (just need a decent manifold and a properly matched turbo), the only downside is appearance if your worried about coppers. I get to see alot of different 26 combinations ( i have 3 GTR's in the shop ATM all running different combo's, and another 2 engine builds) so im open to all different ideas.

I do like the GTss's (one of the GTR's has one of our builds and GTss going in) so its not like i dont reccomend them but i have seen other combos match or better them... many ways to skin a cat

this guy has asked a simple question and the answer is also simple yes it can be done, why he wants to change is another topic.

the question should be askes as to why he wants to swap....

And what power does the car make now?

You'd be stupid to go big single if your only chasing 400-450rwhp...

You can have that power with the best response you can get with your current setup.

he has not mentioned BIG anywhere..... just single. i can think of 2 smallish turbos that would make 430rwhp (320rwkw) with better response than twins....

Good for you....

The single is till bigger than any of the low mounts most commonly used, so you could class it as a big single.

OK so which two are going to have better response than GTSS's?

agree...if your keeping the head stock id stick with the HKS low-mounts.

its making 405rwhp at the moment making full boost by 4200rpm, the reason i want to go single is because its easier to work on as the engine is in a s15 and there isnt much room, the sound of the screamer, and the looks of the high mount, if i can get a single turbo to make similiar power or more on same or more boost and maybe get it more responsive then the twins id rather do that.

If you must get rid of the GT-SS's, really your only option to keep it as resposive as you can get with that power level is a 3076. Any smaller and really your downgrading from your current setup. I know what you mean about the room thing though, the twins are a pain in the ass for that.

4200rpm = you have boost control issues.

That is WAY to late for GT-SS's to be coming up to peak boost.

Mine ramp up from around 2800rpm under load, and by 3300-3400rpm the boost gauge has flicked to peak (stock is 7mmHg, so 14psi give/take).

The looks/shiny stuff is fair enough, but you certainly have not reached the potential of the current setup if you feel it is not good enough.

but whats the max a 3071 will make dont they only make 370rwhp on like 18psi i dont want any less then what im making now thats all

3071 is smaller than the 3076.

As Titan said.

then go with the 3076 (GT3076R-700382-12) with a 0.82 rear. that will give you a little over 400hp on pump fuel. the 3071 is unlikely get you that without using E85/WMI/race fuel/etc

agreed thats way too late, they sound more like r32 N1. get someone to look over it, get it right then make your decision.

i don't know what all the fuss is...twins are a snack to work on...once bolted in its not like you need to play with them.

I do have a kit of custom spanners for fitting them though and know the order things are easily fitted.

Singles look cheap and tacky...stealth is the new black!
