size of your turbo?...if its around the same size as a GT-SS of course it will be.

your set-up 2.0 litres capacity x 1 turbo but due to the inferior head design/flow of the RB20 this evens it up a bit.

his set-up 2.6 litres capacity 2 x turbo's his is the equivalent of a 1.3 litre engine vs your 2 litres...even if you turbo is the same as a 2530 you would still have more airflow through the turbine at any given rpm.

Trust TD06 20G L2......feel free to get the calculator out :D

EDIT: I'm getting 1.25bar at around 4,200

This comment made my night

Jack, here you go, some old turbo sheets attached. 35R is hard to rate HP wise with so many options available for it, for example ive got one with a 66mm front fan (for supra).

I agree with your points 100%, but since talking to the racepace guys and seeing their results I dont really pay much attention to ratings anymore ;)

Nice work Steve, I remember seeing this chart a while back, puts things into perpective and good reference for comparisons..

Simple fact is twin GTss on an RB26 with Mild Cams dialed right is as good as it gets for boost response in a 450rwhp package.

Agreed, proven many times over, results speak for themselves...

I will leave you to your ego's....I mean your tuners ego's that you live through vicariously. ;)

Agree totally, especially when the person behind the keyboard IS the tuner.

Having 4 GTR's in your workshop does wonders to one's ego it seems. ;)

Time to put it to rest anyway, if Trent doesn't want to share his knowledge and experiences well then he shouldn't say anything at all.

A few have recommended a turbo, would be interesting how they would go up against the twin GTSS's.

How many time have you seen a smallish single installed on a rb26?!?

I think a Garrett/HKS 3071R, 3076R, Apexi RX6 and Trust Td06/T67 25g would all give them a run for their money... and that's just to name a few!!! The problem is no-one seems to run these setups, although apparently their will be one back on the road in Perth soon

Man, a PE RX6R on a GTR - that'd be bling!!!

wrxkilla on these forums had a single RX6 with P21 housing on his R32 GTR, it has been done. Biggest rear end is a P27 I think? Single scroll though.

The 30 series do match the GTss for response but loose out above 7000rpm. 35s are the tool for the 500 to 600ish rwhp bracket and what I use on customer Race RBs. Very simple, reliable and effective.

Im fitting a pair of The Turbos I developed for IPRA 2.0L Turbo cars to the RB34 im building for the 180SX Race car we look after because of their response and power output.

The PE RX6R is a bit of a different beast to the typical IHI/Apexi RX6s... its almost like comparing a GT30R with a TR30R.

Angus Smart - that'd be awesome to see. One of my friends have an R32 GTR with a GT4094R on his built RB26 but he needs to sort the fuel system out... its still on the stock one while he sorts other things out and the thing hits 300wkw by 6000rpm on wastegate boost, and the thing is pretty laggy with that small a rev range haha.

There are two of the turbos i was talking about earlier there. I have PM'd (few days back) Toy15 with the turbos we have used and explained why i have not listed them here.

I haven't seen many at all, they are not popular for a reason.

In my opinion I believe it comes down to two factors.

First is the percentage of GTR's which are street cars that don't want the hassle of a high mount with current laws, EPA etc...

Second is cost, it will be cheaper to bolt on some low mounts than go through the excercise of buying turbo, manifold, wastegate, plumbing, oil lines etc.

This is my opinion and by no means is the definitive answer.

Would be interesting to see how those turbos you have mentioned would go, has anybody seen any dyno graphs or experienced such setups that would better the GTSS's in response??

which workshop do you own/ what set ups have you tuned?

Hows yours going anyway? still a monster? if your ever down this way feel free to drop past.

i just gave up, gave the info direct... if he was local i would invite him in to look at the results in person. Im not going to post a customers result without their consent much like i wont post anyones tuned maps unless asked to by the customer (joeyjoejunior was happy to post both his graphs and maps others prefer to stay off the interwebs)

hi trent, car's still going great. hoping to get down there by April, if i do i'll be sure to drop in.

i don't get the mentality round here, you spend years gathering info and then offer it to people for free and you get roasted for it. i gave up a while ago trying to convince people that a single turbo on an rb26 in some cases is a viable alternative. i'll just keep on enjoying mine and give people any help when they ask me in person.

Know-one said singles are viable but if you already have GTss Turbos why would you change unless you were chasing more Power?

If you have excessive lag with GTss Turbos theres something wrong that fitting a single wont fix unless the Turbos are in trouble.

If this question is directed at me I'm not a tuner, nor do I own a workshop and have never tuned a car, not sure what's this has got to do with anything..

You could have deleted the info of the car on the dyno sheet and just displayed the curve, either way you did still give the info didn't you?

Who's getting roasted in giving the right info? If you say it can be done but not back it up with any INFO at all then that deserves a roasting, best to stay out of the discussion if you don't want to participate. And where did I say a single turbo is not a viable alternative? We are talking about this particular setup here where I stated he is wasting his time.

EXACTLY....

There is definetly something wrong there, does the car have cam gears? Have they been dialled in properly? What sort of exhaust is the car running? Boost controller? There are many factors hich may be holding the response back. I say time to look at alternative solutions as far as tuning goes, an experienced RB26 tuner should know better.

which turbo would be best for response and 420-450rwhp out of these

gt3071r .82

gt3076r .63/.82

gt35r .63

very confused

let me know

cheers

out of what youve listed:

3071 wont do it, but will spool quickest

3076 .63 will hold you back, .82 will be most responsive while getting you the power you want but not a c*nt hair more

35r wouldnt be that far off spool wise but would have alot more headroom for later, especially if you plan to build the motor

im no expert but have been doing alot of reading of these exact turbos and more for my RB25. in the end im going for a 250kw single that IMO will be alot faster than a 300rwkw 3076. shower of shit compared to pissing in the wind is the difference between the two i am anticipating.

yet i honnestly have to say, i rekon the GTSS would be the better option.... put them on once and do it right and dust your hands of it. get a set of mild cams and dial em up and a proper tune and ull be laughing, ull get the power and the spool with alot of area under the curve.

the best thing about the GTSS: you already have them.

Hopefully this has directly answered your question, and now we shall let the shit fight continue lol

backyarder pro vs telemarketing tuners GO GO GO!! ENEMY UAV ONLINE!!!!!

(please note i have no intention to offend anyone, only having a laugh)

Was that a typo, or do you think you can make an Rb25 car faster on 250kw with a different turbo to an equivalent 300kw GT3076R setup? Don't get your hopes up too high on that one.

    • I would not be surprised if you are the only person on earth that has the interest/desire to do that lol.  The Haltech base map is a really good starting point, the car will fire easily and drive very well, even on mild boost levels. To me, following your advice sounds like some sort of ancient Chinese water torcher lol (this is not an insult Josh, never change <3)
    • Those car show concepts from the 2000's and 2010's like the Floria and IDx were brilliant and should've gone ahead, at least one of them. But neither Honda nor Nissan are thinking about affordable performance any more, which is truly sad.  Even if Toyota's liquid hydrogen ICE development reaches the point where it's commercially viable and the infrastructure to support it, Honda/Nissan would have to wait until Toyota allow fee access to their patents to offer it with any smaller performance models they released to take advantage of it.
    • A sporty manual RWD coupe with a IL4 Honda engine would only be a good thing I assume we won't see anything released for a few years though, unless informal talks and designs have been going on for a few years,  and due to the current, and future, emmisions and safety requirements, I assume anything "sporty" they would do would be at least some hybrid thingie And hopefully anything they are thinking of has nice lines, without lots of plastic and fake bits hanging off it like that horrendous FK8 that looked like it was designed by a 13 year old The other issue of course in the current market is cost, currently the type R is around $70k, a twin is around $50k Meh, I'm old and grumpy and would rather buy a older model car and waste my coin on that than buying anything currently available new
