Hey mate sorry I only found your post today but I was up in Sydney on the weekend (I'm from tassie) as I also had a look at the gtr your talking about. I also looked at two next door at japlink motors. But about the one in question it has had a respray ( I'm a spray painter and my mate I took with me is a panelbeater look under the Tasmania section for an r31 buildup thread) but it looks like a genuine clean car for the most part. We test drove that and a black one next door for 20gs and they both drove the same( rather like a new car) my mate really liked yours. A few things we did notice were the inlet manifold looked like it might have had a new gasket on it sometime in the past, the damage under the front sills as you mentioned but it looks like incorrect jacking possibly when being hoisted but other than that it the front rails look fine the rear end hasn't had a mojor hit and the car drives and feels great. Also I can't remember the name of them but the wheels are pretty good quality racing wheels I think. Looking around at the market in Sydney and I only had a small look ( limited time) but it's about as clean as you can expect for the price. Go with your gut instinct but but I had a look at a few that I'd seen in photos and they don't look as good up close. Anyway sorry about hijacking your thread but good luck on the gtr hunt. If you wanna talk a bit more about that car shoot me a txt on0419176656 or not anyway catchya

mate not at all, that's actually awesome that you posted up, and cheers for your honesty, and also for the info... it's funny cuz the seller actually mentioned that there was another guy (from tassie) looking at the car last weekend when I came to take it for the second test drive, I can only assume he was referring to you, he mentioned you were looking for a car to possibly drive back down in, if so, hope the search goes well for you, thanks again for your words of recommendation

How long has the car been F/S?

Just wondering if the price can drop further by Aust Day - January being a traditionally slow month and all... > end of the month to boot...

been for sale for 3 months... but the way my mind is racing at the moment, i reckon i'll probably have purchased it before then :P

No probs mate I was just suprised when I saw the article lol. Terrygtr34 dont know how long it has been for sale but I got told it dropped from 19 to 18 and no further he had to sell it for that no less so don't think he's very negotiable ( ATM anyway ). Yeah I was looking for one to drive back I actually flew up to check out and hopefully buy a gtst with a rb26det conversion but it turned out to be a bucket so then I went hunting. Back in tas now and trying to sort out another gtr to be delivered from up there actually.

ah no good, oh well hope it works out for you champ... reassuring to hear someone a bit more knowledgeable on the subject than myself who has some constructive input on the actual car i'm looking at so thanks again for the post, same goes for SIR_RB, cheers fellas

If you have any doubt turn away and leave it , but on the other hand you will know if its the right car for you , looks great from the pics , 90% of skylines digital clocks dont work anyway ,the most positive thing i got from you was that the car was mainly stock (good thing) and at least the dealer has given you a warranty . Good Luck Mate

Hi Christian,

I'm the panel beater trustr32 AKA brodie took up from tassie. I have a fair amount of mechanical knowledge when it comes to skylines also. Overall its not a bad car, but the sill panels/floor pans that are damaged do bother me. The car also has had a repair on the Right hand rear quater panel, on the front of the wheel arch section. It has plug welds etc and the repair looks kinda average and it showing signs of letting go soon enough. nothing to stop the world, but exspense on the horizon. As Trust32 mentioned, its been resrayed, not the best, not the worst.

Compared to some of the other GTR's on the market up there, its really not bad.

I actually drove the car, and I thought it was pretty good to drive. Clutch doesnt feel that great, engages really late. Has a short shifter in it also.

all in all mate its a reasonable car, And I'm sure it hasnt been in a major smash. Front rails are clean, rear quater panels/boot floor beaver/back panel and all sealers etc look pretty spot on. But the Right hand quater has had a tap and the door didnt close how I like, gap wasnt 100%. probably not noticable to the average joe, I am fussy!!. Hence why trustr32 put up with my constant moaning/whining and general poor additude. Not to mention I cost him a fortune Muhahah lol

jot down all the things you have against it and offer them 17,000.

Or keep looking!

oh, it did have a HKS Oil cooler/relocation kit. thats a bit of a bonus.

And, The springs on it are a purple/pink color and on the tops of the struts it seems to be damper adjustable, marked 1-4 and coloured. They are not coilovers, and No ride height adjust.

Rotors are cross drilled also

Hey, thanks for the info, when I put it all down on paper there is a lot to consider, and I have raised my concerns with the dealer, who has said he will fix / replace everything I have issues with, that being: rust, brake pads, air con, wiring on high beams, clock, rear demister, crack on rubber seal around driver window.

Still to be resolved my end will be bubbling window tint, radio, machining brakes

Things I'll have to live with: sill, floor pan damage

Things I'll have to go halves in to get: set of new tyres, 3 year warranty.

At this point I have told the dealer that I'm not taking the car unless everything in the top list is done. I've also said he needs to throw in the tyres if he wants to sell the car because, logically (and I think legally) you can't sell a car without roadworthy tyres. I'm still not that keen on the undercarriage damage, and I'm sure it will cause me dramas at the time of resell, but I'll cop it I guess. So still pretty much 50/50 at this point, I'll be surprised if they can come good on my requests (but in my defence, I told the dealer from day one, I am only buying this car if it is what you say it is, and that is, clean, stock and ready to go), so I'm going to begin the hunt again in the meantime for another R32 while I wait to hear back...

I understand that he has 2 wives and 5 kids to feed. By Sunday 31st January, they'll be all starving (unless he can sell it) lol

Mate also, swing next door to japlink and check out the black 32 GTR. Has a recovered wheel, gear knob, handbrake and gear stick boots and is a bit better overall in my opinion.

It is stock, only mod is a Trust cat back system (unsure of which one, looks decent tho)

The paint is in probably better condition. Interior is in simular if not better condition. The dash in BOTH cars is bubbling in the same spot (Not a hard fix). The right hand B-C pillar trim is cactus (but big adam told us he would source one, I think he had one in a wreck out the back)

it still retains the factory airbox etc. The sill panels on this car are in better condition (doesnt look like its been in a game of forklift hockey like the silver one) and the car didnt really show ANY signs of rust, so I'm tipping it came from a nicer area of japan (rust wise).

atleast give it a look

also, its Cosmic black.

Yes, stock wheels etc. Its pretty tidy. But like most skylines/imports we looked out they have all been sprayed with the windows in, which is a bit average.

apart from that, if i was in the market for a stock GTR for that sort of money, the black one would be my pick. It doesnt feel as quick as the silver one next door, but I put that down to the silver one having pods and the black one running a factory air box with a standard panel filter.

I had a look at it on their website, they are asking 19990 for it, rang up and had a chat to one of the guys there, seemed pretty decent, he took me through the details over the phone (it's the 1990 model I'm talking about) I'll probably check it out over the next few days, seems very tidy far as I can tell, weighing the 90 up against the 94 though...

Yeah like jack said if you are still looking around it is worth going over and having a look at the black one. That is the only drama 90 vs 94 but the black one is very clean. He was going to do it for 18000 for me so he is negotiable he also has a couple of other gtrs in stock you could organize to look at we saw a silver one there on Sunday but didn't have a good look around it. Go have a chat to Adam tell him Brodie and jack sent you he should be able to help you out.

yeah he mentioned the silver one, said it was a Vspec, has a red one coming in soon as well (non vspec) think he wanted 24 for the silver. the package he put together for me for the black one over the phone was pretty good, yeah I'll have a chat to Adam as well when I'm there, I think I was talking to Steve, i'll drop your names though cheers for that :D i best be buying one after all this sh!t otherwise I have a feeling some of the members on here might lynch me :P the money is burning a hole in my pocket though, hopefully make a decision this weekend...

Lol na they won't most on here are a bloody friendly bunch. Yeah Adams pretty good from what I've seen so far (for a car dealer anyway) I ended up buying the black vspec he had there ( ex track car) hopefully a good buy but probably not lol. Already pretty sure I'm up for an engine rebuild within weeks but it fit the budget a bit better and I've already got the 31 daily sorted. Yeah he had another silver non vspec that he had sold to someone then bought back off of them and returned to pretty much stock but like I said didn't have a real good look. He also said he had a mint burgundy gtr with low kms and original logbooks if you've got a spare 45 k lol.
