Oh SH#TTTT my car is overheating........

Ok ere's the story 1 - car accident

2 - car repaired

3 - got 2nd hand radiator

4 - rad flush to the best I could

5 - radiator fitted

6 - filled coolant

7 - started car drove for 15 minute gauge needle on top hhhhhhhot

8 - overheating, top radiator hose boillling

9 - however bottom rad hose cold as

so I don't know what it is can someone help. Now I rather try to get help and not to pay a fortune, my thoughts are thermostat failed blocking waterflow, fan not spinging, water pump seized (but no unusual noise), radiator blocked water can''t circulate hmmmmmm. I want my baby on the road finally had enough of it just getting towed from one place to another fudge

Anyway feedback would be great cheer

2 things..

Most likely the thermostats stuck(you can take it out and run and see if it makes a diff) or the radiators blocked up BAD..

My advice - take the thermostat out and tkae it for a drive.. it will take a bit longer to heat up.. after the drive, BOTH the radiator pipes should be almost the same temp.. if not then u have a blocked radiator for sure.

EDIT - You might also have a BIG airlock - did you bleed your cooling system? If not, do so as well.

Well you have pretty much said most of the problems that I can think of that would cause a car to overheat, now its just time to narrow it down.

Depending on the condition (km's) of your car, I wouldnt think the water pump seized. When I needed to get a new one, the seals failed and coolant leaked everywhere. Do you have any leaks from the cooling system? From the water pump? Radiator, hoses etc? Run the car on idle and see if there are any leaks.

Thermostats do fail and there not overly expensive so I would probably changed that first and see what happens. Then I would question the 2nd hand radiator.

i'm guessing that this only started after the accident and not before hand?

if so, i'd be getting the radiator professionally cleaned first. that is more than likely going to be the problem as it was the only thing replaced. however i would also be checking the clutch fan as that may also have been damaged in the crash. but since the lower hose is cold i'd be guessing it's the core being blocked, which normal radiator flushing does vey little to fix.

I'm not sure about how old it is I purchased it damaged (minor) however I'm replacing the radiator anyway this week to an ally I've taken off the heater hose but no water seems to be going there at all. I have a gready inlet manifold on the beast so the thermostats hard to get to so will have to wait for mechanic. to sort it.

hm radiator cap will replace that too thnxxxx all
