Ok guys, save for the people who have had to pull out, everyone has paid their deposits. Please remember that final payment of the other $100 is due by April 1st. This leaves just over 2 weeks. We are just under a month away from the track day so start prepping peeps, it will go quick!

whats wrong with your brakes dave?

i am almost ready for this track day, got my coilovers, a31 cefiro hubs and lower control arms, r33 gtst calipers and my motul rbf 660, all i am waiting on now is some brake pads and we are all set to change it all over :(

I need

Z32/R33 Brake Rebuild Kit

Braided Brake lines

QFM Pads

RDA Slotted Rotors

Some brake fluid

New rear tires

...and a helmet for the trackday. What brake fluid do people suggest? If the motul stuff, where do I get it and how much is it?

probably nothing. but everything can be improved. r33's are bigger, and r33 brembos* are bigger again. never a bad thing.

at the minimum im gonna run a rebuild kit through the calipers, machine the rotors, and bust out some new fluid. then ive got a basic service, do something about the fuel pickup to stop it surging, install castor arms and rcas, maybe run some brake ducting, fit a harness...

*and if i do pinch lukes brembos, ill need a bm44, and probably new lines.

well if you do pinch lukes brembos, i am always happy to help you out with the fitting & bleeding etc,

and aberax, as for the motul stuff, it seems to be the way to go, the going rate seems to be $50 per 500ml bottle, and unfortunately the only two stockists i have found are morpowa in modbury and autobarn

Cheers Bengi

Sled and myself picked up the motul at auto barn mile end for 27 and thats before club sponsorship

thanks steve, this is information that would have been useful to me last week lol  . is it the 660 that you got or the 600?

cheers Bengi

I would suggest Motul RBF 660 ~$55/500ml or Elf Lub HTX ~$40/500ml. I tried the Elf stuff last trackday and experienced zero fade throughout the day. I got it from AutoSports on Magill Rd and was given some discount.

I've also found Motul at AutoSports, Motorbike shops and Repco (on South Rd St Marys).

I doubt that would be the RBF 660. If so that is a great price!

Make sure u get 660 tho as the 600 doesn't work as well with abs

I have been told this as well and my own experience with 600 was less than impressive (but I have no idea how long it had been since the brakes were last bled). When I mentioned it to my mechanic he disagreed and cited previous track records at Malllala with ABS equipped cars using RBF 600. For the next trackday I switched to Elf Lub HTX and thought it was excellent and about $15 less than Motul RBF 660 (going on RRP).

aww spewn was looking forward to seeing Adrians beast on track,

at the rate of everyone dropping out, i think we might just have to find a 25 for your motor for the day steve and whack you at the bottom of the list....and if we don't finish that just bring the camry

    • Yes...but look at the numbers. There is a tiny tiny fraction of the number of Joules available, compared to what is used/needed. Just because things are "possible" doesn't make them meaningful.
    • Thanks for taking the time to post that ! If anything changes or happens please do update us.
    • Somehow Vertimass/Oak Ridge National Labs has figured out a catalyst that can convert ethanol into C9-C10 hydrocarbons in basically a single step without ending up with a bunch of ethylene or similar waste products: https://patents.google.com/patent/WO2023224867A1/en I still don't think anything like this will keep us from needing to transition to EVs regardless along with all kinds of other electrification, but things like this will go a long way towards alleviating the problem of how to electrify things like planes. Renewable diesel is seemingly an easier problem as well, Chevron is already running refineries for the stuff and the primary feedstock is tallow and other waste fats from agriculture.
    • Ok so I have sorted everything with my uniclutch and  i can offer up a bit of feedback and some things that might help others.    I found problems with factory damper line. Weird shit and had trouble with peddle adjustment    I used this https://au.gktech.com/products/r33-gts-t-skyline-braided-clutch-line?_pos=2&_sid=22b01b9b9&_ss=r Also when adjusting peddle leave a bit of play. You can get into a over stroke condition easy.. Make sure you can push the slave forward after adjusting to confirm fluid can return to master then you will need to pump it up heaps…..not sure why but that’s how it is.    last thing the splined adapter is machined perfectly. If your input shaft is old like mine was I would put a bit of valve grinding paste on it and stroke it like a 15 year old. Just to give it a tad more clearance and to better match it to the spline.    reason is on a near flat shift I have had situation where the peddle returns a millisecond after you lift from the clutch. No slip or anything but I reckon this is due to tolerance on the spline being way tighter than stock clutch and binding for a sec. I think this will go away but also my spline was old. Box is old so I guess I should have checked better. It’s a super neat fit.    it feels light as and holds awesome without any noise
