This is a pic of my front bar, I'm planning to fit a fmic but with this bar not a whole lot of air is going to get through to it. My car is the only one i've seen with this type of bar - other 'standard' ones i've seen look different - more/bigger holes in them, what's the deal?

I have the same front bar. It is the stock standard bar. I believe the purchaser of my car was a tight ass as it has no options at all.

I would not bother looking for/buying a factory Type-M bar as they can be difficult to find and expensive and they do not improve things that much. For a little bit more money you're looking at an aftermarket bar.

Of course the factory Type-M bar does have its good points:

- Factory item

- Not defectable

- A bit more airflow

- Better looks that current one

- Not fiberglass

- Does not need fiddling around to fit

- May already be factory painted in your colour

heres a pic of my stock bar on my car.

All R33 GTS-t are Type M, regardless whether it has standard stock bar or the aero bar. In Japan they call what you call "Type M" bar as Nissan's "Aero" frontbar, never has it been called as Type M bar..

I think Type S it's for the non turbo GTS ones, as they don't have the "-t" in it, people may refer them as Type S. Or, it may have been derived from R32 series as in R32 series they may have Type S and M, but not in R33 as far as I know...

Thanks for that rs73 - shown some good knowledge there. I was beginning to think I had a dud r33, type m type s and all that. I thought the type s was the non turbo aswell, and i was thinking... but i've got a turbo.. what the hell's going on here

No worries deano...

My GTS-t also had the factory std frontbar, it made me worried that my car was a converted GTS to GTS-t but after learning the facts, and chassis no on the build plate, that "Type-M" bumper that people been talking about is actually the optional "Aero" bumper. I've managed to get my hands on the original factory aero bumper and aero sideskirts (don't bother getting one as they're expensive, unless you value originality like me) and hope I can fit them on after the new year...
