Mine just got done it's loud as at idle. Can be heard easily in the cabin even in traffic - only below 900rpm does it make the noise. Above that it's quiet. Done at a workshop that deals with a lot of RBs. Considering just getting a Nissan belt put on instead even though I'll then have wasted my money on this belt.

It's way too loud to drive at night when quiet - definitely I do not recommend Gates racing belt. Should have gone genuine but didn't know about this issue until after I bought it.

Mine just got done today it's loud as at idle. Pretty pissed off right now. Can be heard easily in the cabin even in traffic - only below 900rpm does it make the noise. Above that it's quiet. As other forum members have asked before - why don't people just go with OEM timing belts. They're designed to last 100000kms anyway. I think the whole 'racing belt' thing and the blue colour sucks a lot of people in. Wasnt there a thread which showed that the teeth in the Gates belts were poorly formed?

i just got mine done and mine is doing this noise... the place is trying to make me pay to get the belt re-tensioned.. did you pay or not?? jus wondering if i should give in and pay for it or not?

cheers mate

Nope I didn't pay a sausage for the re-tension, if you replaced everything idler bearings/water pump and obviously belt it shouldn't be noisey.

totally agree. Most complaints i've heard were from the 'racing' timing belt from gates. Either go a normal timing belt from gates or a genuine one. I paid a little bit more and went genuine, no noises there.
