Yeah they are close. Now its just me that has to improve. I'm letting the machine down and not the other way :)

Easiest to just buy a welder and practice, there is no substitute for it.

Cheers,

Ariel

I have been a busy little elf, filling in my week off with a little bit of work, tying up some loose ends really. All pics are taken, straight after it has been welded, no cleaning at all

Custom Fuel Cell - with internal pumps on custom mounts, completely baffled, rear extension acting as internal surge tank/extra baffling, removable lid for access to pumps, fuel level sender and filler lid along with return and one way valve to be fitted. It holds some 63'ish litres. Will be coming back with the car for custom made mounts, not your average square tube.....just the norm is not good enough for this kind of work :whistling: and ignore the Nissan bolts, they are being replaced with Stainless steel, button head screws....in my opinion, it's the little touches that make all the difference

Catch can to sit on chassis rail in engine bay - internally baffled

Again, not your average mounting bracket. Admittedly, nothing special, but not just some sheetmetal with a 90deg bend in it.

Undercar surge tank - complete with twin fuel pump bracket....ooops, I'll have pics tomorrow, didn't realise I didn't take any of it today

I made some minor changes to the welder settings and also the way I sharpen the tungsten to try something different and through the helmet, they seemed to be in the right direction....will it ever end??? Now I am making more and more changes depending on what I am welding then ever before, maybe I should just stick to what I have, but it's hard to not to try and get better all the time.

Happy welding,

Ariel

Better quality pics of the internals of the fuel cell and in car pics (Not quite finished yet, going to cop stainless bolts for the lid and custom brackets) Welding work is second to none! Looks unreal and it hasnt even been polished yet!

I have been busy getting stuck into a CA18DET powered Datsun 1200 ute and hence the reason for no updates. I did make another undercar surge tank today and have the new rb26 and sr20 manifolds still in development, a little slower than anticipated unfortuantley, but isnt that the way it always is with cars???

What started off as a plenum and piping only job has turned into what more and more people are looking for once they see what kind of work I can do, much like the turbo'd GTI I posted pics up of. This to-do list now looks something like this:

- new intercooler and radiator installation

- inlet manifold integrating PCV valve, intercooler piping and recirculating blow off valve

- new exhaust manifold flange, yep meaning remove existing one and weld on a new one - DONE

- port match inlet and exhaust manifolds - step 1 of 3 DONE

- new fuel tank, surge tank, 2x044's and stainless steel fuel lines to permanently convert from pump to e85

- new front radiator support panel and front apron

- new custom made engine and gearbox mounts to move everything back to be able to hide intercooler behind grill

- converting 8 port cylinder head to 4 port - DONE

- clean up inlet and exhaust ports

- raise compression ratio, new cams, head gasket, springs, balancer

- fill in all the holes in the engine bay and spray

Anyway

This is just a little something I made for myself....its been a looooooooooooongtime since I spoilt myself but needed it for the CA. Notice the space for 32 valves  VH45 goodness :nyaanyaa:

some welding pics from this weekend. I am always trying different things to improve structural and aethestic's of the weldand to me it looks like they are working out.

I'm playing with tungsten stick out from the cup, tungstens sharpening angle and also the penetration settings.

Should be able to post up photos of the new fuel system for the Datsun ute if I finish it this weekend. Stainless steel lines from front to back as well as mounting a modified r31 fuel tank under the rear of the tray and surge tank in the front of the tray. The surge tank was going to be mounted underneath, but that will get in the way of the new suspension being installed.

New sr20 s14/15 intake manifold flanges....did someone say complete custom intake manifold for under $1,000 just add a fuel rail and throttle body :)

Some of the recent work

stainless steel fuel system to suit e85 - 2x 044 fuel pumps, carter lift pump, and thickwall stainless tubing with as little angle fittings as possible. All bent in a tube bender.

exhaust manifold and dump pipe for Nissan Micra..... this is my first crack at an exhaust manifold and my first decent steel tig welding job. I am loving this steel business.....give me more LOL
