Autosport AWD Turbo Challenge - Round 5 Results

For the first time in 2010 the Autosport AWD Turbo Challenge found its way to Collingrove for Round 5; Multiclub Hillclimb 4, August 29th. In good time too with the Peter Lehmann SA Hillclimb Championship 2010 now only 2 weeks away! The competition is tightening leading into the last 4 rounds, and the only way to get points and challenge for top placing is to be out there racing!

Congratulations to Doug Lehmann (Open Modified), Matthew Dreckow (Modified Class), and Craig Van Diemen (Club Class) for winning their respective classes at the Autosport AWD Turbo Challenge Round 5 - Multiclub Hillclimb 4.

Thanks to the Peter Lehmann SA Hillclimb Championship 2010 ran 25th - 26th September, the AWDTC competition is further heating up! Near perfect weather and track conditions made for some quick times, personal bests attained by many. Entries for both remaining hillclimbs, Australian Championships and Legend of the Lakes, are packed with plenty of high profile talent, which should make for an epic battle in the final dash for points!

Congratulations to Doug Lehmann (Open Modified), Artur Niedzwiecki (Modified Class), and Craig Van Diemen (Club Class) for winning their respective classes at the Autosport AWD Turbo Challenge Round 6 - Peter Lehmann SA Hillclimb Championships 2010.

Monday 4th October was absolute perfect weather at Mallala for Round 3 of the Phillcom Rally Time Attack Series 2010. With the 3 Time Attack series leading drivers on equal points entering the final round, it was all or nothing, providing an epic battle for the series title. The popular introduction of a Top 10 Shoot-Out provided the pointy end a final chance to better their session times and class ranks.

Congratulations to Steve Knight (Open Modified), Martin Donnon (Modified Class), and Craig Van Diemen (Club Class) for winning their respective classes at the Autosport AWD Turbo Challenge Round 7 - Phillcom Rally Time Attack Round 3.

National hillclimb championships, host by SA at Collingrove 15th - 17th October, was Autosport AWD Turbo Challenge competitors last opportunity to claim points before heading into the final round at Legend of the Lakes hillclimb 6th - 7th November. With majority of the AWD Turbo Challenge competitors on the start grid for the final round, winning results will be crutial for the respective final class rankings for 2010!

The highly anticipated Legend of the Lakes Hillclimb 6th - 7th November was the final round for Autosport AWD Turbo Challenge 2010. Claiming to be the highlight of the season, competitors threw it all on the line. Although, Open and Club Classes had been unchallenged leading into the Legends event, the Modified Class podium had came down to 4 competitors! The final climb of the event catergorised the Donnon, Willis, Niedzwiecki & Dreckow show into their respective class ranks, all within a .28 second gap!

Congratulations to Tristan Catford (Open Modified) and Michael Willis (Modified Class) for winning their respective classes at the Autosport AWD Turbo Challenge Round 9 - Legend of the Lakes Hillclimb 2010.

If you do the Time Attack series then there is a specific 2WD Class for cars like yours Krishy. Last Time Attack I reckon the winning car in that class was a GT3 with a 1:19.X lap time, so its totally achievable for you to get out there, have a go, and expect to win with a bit of preparation :down:

Nothing is more fun that beating GT3s on the track, we make a hobby of it ;)

thanks for the info Martin. Once i have a few more upgrades on the car i will be looking at doing this for sure. Specially if I can get the times down to the 1:19:xxx. I might also come down and have a chat with you Martin to see how I can set the car up better for track ;)
